Gotta love Cervelli's reaction. He stops between first and second base and starts clapping, then doffs his helmet and points it towards Hamilton in homage.
Yes, it was THAT good!

When I played that would have been a routine catch ....
So, you're saying your glove hand was solid?

Fruits of the Cole trade on display today. Red Beard Moran goes yard, and Musgrove solid so far.
I really like Moran, left handed hitting 3rd baseman who plays solid D decent average and some pop.

MLB Network reporting Pirates actively shopping Cervelli, Mercer, Harrison , and Dickerson..

Nutting has the Saber Geniuses down in Wash PA looking for the Wild who can get on base. It’s a quick cheap drive up the highway to Pgh to restock the Bucs at rock bottom dollar.

The North Shore meltdown is in full on mode....Nutting has completely turned the franchise around, back to baseball over in Pgh before the Stillers report to Latrobe.

It’s so hard to keep following this team.....

How does this trade look a week later? Musgrove looks like a candidate to be permanently moved to the bullpen where he was in Houston and with a 265 average that’s dropping and just seven home runs, most of which were hit against the Reds and the AL Central, Moran should be heading to the bench when Jung Ho finally is recalled

Frankly they should be in full sell mode. They should have been in full sell mode once they traded Cole last year and really once they decided not to build on the 98 win team.

The crap ownership did barely enough after that 98 win season to try and stay afloat without spending anything of significance to con the fans into coming still. When that backfired they played the blame game using Cutch's struggles, Cole struggles, injuries, etc.. And while some of that was true, the downfall started because the crap mgmt and more specifically the crap owner didn't invest into the team via salaries.

You can't upset me about the Pirates or this trade or anything. I've crossed the Rubicon with them. I'll just remind you that Cole was basically a .500 level homerun generating batting practice pitcher for the Pirates, was generally an asshole and was never going to sign with them, so the trade was necessary.

Yes, Musgrove folded like a cheap kite, and hopefully can be useful in the bullpen.
I still like Moran. He is a true rookie, so there will be ups and downs at the plate, but the glove has been solid at 3rd base, and I like him there better than Freese.
Kang probably destined for SS since they're trying to unload Mercer whose contract is up.

They have proven to be a bad team. Almost nothing has worked out this year. Taillon has been bad, the rest have collapsed, their best starter has been Nova, so there it is.
Kingham looked promising but he's been kept down.

They may as well sell off because they're toast once again. Cervelli will be hard to unload because of his concussion issues he's as fragile as cheap china. Mercer is steady but nothing spectacular, Harrison may get some prospects and Dickerson we hardly knew ya!
They probably have to move him because they supposedly have 4 outfielders if you can actually count Polanco. He's the one to jettison, but they awarded him with big money and of course he tanked to worthless.

Sean Rodriguez is another one who ran out of whatever little gas he had left. They're keeping him because they invested a lot of $$$ in him and can't get rid of him, so they're eating it.

The Pirates front office and manager should be canned. They have all proven this year that they're pretty bad. Hurdle is getting a pissy attitude, and the players clearly won't play for him. The genius Searage has no answers, and the GM and VP are worthless mouthpieces for the penny pinching owner.

Nothing about this organization can be defended. It isn't even the least bit of fun to even pay attention to them. It's a shame because PNC Park is a nice ballyard.

Baseball in general has become a dud as far as I'm concerned. Nothing interesting going on for me so I'm pretty much done with it.
Almost time for football, so until then I'll be fishing. Lake Erie walleye fishing is en fuego!

Yeah I mean are they going to be buyers.....NOW?
Get in there and SELL SELL SELL LOL

Nutting didn’t blow it up this yr imo because he thought they could patch together a team which would be in the WC hunt thereby saving attendance......but all that is up in smoke.
They could well end up with the lowest payroll in baseball and not care one iota what attendance is next yr.

They extended BUBBLES and Neal so nothing is going to change there.....where is Uncle Ray Rays magic...all these arms we were bragged on to not block from the Show, that’s working out.
Where’s the development, Polanco and Marte were talked up by the Bucs as if we had Trout on the way. Polanco is tanking and Marte goes through many games in a fog......Even Bell....where’s he been?

Somebody come up with one iota of hope , not seeing any right now....

Got to pin a lot of the disappointment on the outfield. They were supposed to be the cornerstone for this team yet they started crumbling in recent years. I suspect it won't be long before Marte is traded and Polanco looks like another Tabata right now. Time to get Luplow into the OF rotation.

As far as trades go, who cares? This team is going to suck with Cervelli and Harrison, they can suck without them. Just have to hope Cervelli can come back and show something after the DL stint.

This off-season should be a front office house cleaning but it won't be.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Freeport....thanks for the vicarious vent. Until FB, enjoy the angling.

Great points....

Couple asides....Yanks look like Sanchez to the DL. Just saying

The Walks, HRs and Ks are imo dragging baseball into a funk...only about half the batters now put a ball in play because of them..

Yep, interesting discussion before the game the other day.
A guy was talking about hitter's approach with 2 strikes. Old time baseball, guys would choke up and shorten their swing and be more defensive trying to put the ball in play.
Today, nothing changes, these meatheads just keep flailing away, swinging from their heels, and mostly looking foolish doing it.
All the pitching changes late in games, specialists for one batter, all the strategy meetings on the mound to kill time, all the days off for guys in their athletic prime playing a game, all the computer generated moves, all the gimmicks to get people to the park........it isn't a fun game anymore.
It's become more of a circus, and mostly a freakshow con!
