49ers lose to Cleveland 19-17.

Purdy was 12/27 for 125 yards and 1 INT.

Rooting against Cleveland today, but they have a tough defense.

Playing a good defense without McCaffrey and Samuel is tough. Lol. Poor guy. He still had more weapons, a better offense and coaching and had half the game vs the Browns that Kenny had.

I don't want Samuel and McCaffrey to be injured, but id like to see Purdy play a few games with a normal supporting cast instead of 4 All Pros.

Purdy is a good QB with a chip on his shoulder, a likeable fella.

I’ll say this, if Kenny played for the 9ers they’d be in a similar position record-wise and in terms of Super Bowl contenders

Hey, he still brought them back down for the (would be) game-winning field goal. Isn't that what Pickett gets praised for - sucking for 58 minutes and pulling it out at the end?

But yes - he and the Niners did not look good. Nor did the Eagles or the Bills. Something in the air yesterday, I guess.

#1 Kenny hater haha.

Not at all. Just looking for some consistency up in heya.
He’s been as inconsistent as possible I’ll say. One play he makes an elite throw, then the next play makes him look inept. OL & OC haven’t helped.

As a Pitt fan, my patience for Kenny is much more extended than the average Stillerz fan.

Hope #8 proves to be a franchise QB!

You think KP has been getting praised? Lol.

The Steelers have the least open WRs in the NFL. The 49ers have the most open WRs. I think KP is doing ok considering.

Its hard to compare 2004 NFL to 2023 NFL, but Big Ben had a dream-like scenario with his ‘04 rookie year. Kenny is surrounded by mediocrity.

On this board, yes. At the very least, the tolerance level for poor play is a lot higher. And I get that he is not in a good situation, but neither have thousands of other quarterbacks been. I think it's gone too far in the excuse-making direction, though; that's my main issue.

To listen to some talking heads, you would think he was the second coming of Joe Montana. He’s done well, but like most QB’s he’s only as good as the players and coaches around him.

A franchise QB is a player that can rise above the short comings around them and still win big games. There’s only a few of those.

KP needs to do better. Can't miss easy throws. But, his WRs are the least open in the NFL. There was a chart here last week showing the difference. Steelers were the worst and the 49ers were the best at WRs getting open. I think with Johnson coming back, and Jones fully solidifying his spot at LT, and slowing working in Washington more at TE, the Steelers offense will continue to improve.

That's how I looked at it. The Browns have a terrific defense and given the injuries, Purdy had a lot going against him. Despite playing poorly, he helped put the 49ers in position to win. I don't think he would be successful everywhere, but he's a perfect QB for that system. Not every QB would produce the way he does. Pickett would be much better if he played for the 49ers, I just don't think it would be to Purdy's level.

Except he didn't pull it out....he lost

Purdy’s performance was awful. And What would Purdy’s stats have been if he didn’t have Samuel and McCaffrey for the entire game instead of just half of it? All he showed on Sunday is he can look pretty pedestrian too when he only has the type of talent that other QBs have. Kenny doesn’t have the luxury of all of those all-pros to play with.

They started shutting the Run game down. Brock Purdy is nothing special because if you play the 49ers from the inside out and make him hit throws outside the numbers beyond 10 yards he turns into what he was drafted. The seventh round pick. Turns out when the corners actually play up on people and put hands on the receivers that are within a half a yard of them. It’s harder to hit those throws because there are no wide open middle of the field rows anymore. Who knew?
