Both passed away today. I'd say two coaching legends. One for her greatness on the court and the other for his personality and willingness to push the envelope. And punching Kevin Gilbride.
Yep, but if my memory's right, Buddy ended-up eating those words.“Trade him for a six pack; it doesn’t even have to be cold.”

Yep, Earnest Jackson almost had a 1,000 yards with the Steelers after being cut by Buddy, and Jackson even missed the first two or three games in 1986. For some reason Jackson was let go by the Chargers after 1984 after accumulating over 1,000 yards. Incredible how Ryan couldn’t even win one playoff game with all that talent in Philly.
Gilbride deserved to be punched as well. The Oilers D made a big stop and instead of kneeling on the ball and head into the locker room, Mr. Pass Happy got greedy and the offense turned the ball over and the defense had to go back out onto the field.
Jackson indeed had a reputation, but it went beyond laziness. After all, it was the 1980's...I think Jackson had a reputation as being lazy. But he was a gamer and Ryan had no eye for offensive talent. Remember, he let Cris Carter walk away as well. Ultimately, his Eagles teams failed because they just happened to come along the same time the Cowboys were great. Spent more time trying to figure out how to hurt Cowboys players than trying to win.
