OT: Can't believe I'm actually rooting for the Cards.....

I know how you feel, Arrieta hits two Pirates and then cries about getting hit, John Wayne would never have even flinched....I changed this so as not to be misinterpreted.....

I absolutely hate the Cardinals, but I 100% agree about Arrieta. He's the baseball equivalent of a shock jock. The ball just barely grazed him. Yet he throws at Cervelli's head and no matter if there was intent or not, a much more dangerous situation. Cervelli just slyly moves out of way enough to not suffer a serious head injury and walks to first. Guys like Arrieta that make everything involving them a major ordeal represent all the wrong things in sports. I think I might for one time in my life root for the Cards just to see him cry like a little baby.

My guess is he'll return to mediocrity....or have to wear Barry Bonds hat-size. PEDS????

I just can't stand that smug Maddon.

I don't like the Cards but atleast you can respect their success. The cubs on the other hand...blowhards. 3-0 sweep for the red birds...then I hope the Metropolitans or Dodgers beat em.

As a life long Cardinal fan, imagine if the Pirates had the same injuries as the Cardinals this year.
Take away Cole for the season ( Adam Wainwright missed almost the entire season )
Take away their #3 hitter McCutcheon ( for Matt Holiday out with a torn quad TWICE )
Take away their 1b Alvarez ( Matt Adams missed almost the whole season with a torn quad )
Take away 2 setup guys Watson + whoever ( the Cardinals lost Walden and Belisle for almost all season )
Take away 2 outfielders, Polanco and Marte ( the Cardinals lost Jon Jay for almost all season with a wrist surgery and Randal Grichuk, a rookie who came up and was sensational who had an elbow injury )
In addition they had several minor injuries that all teams have.
The Cardinals will have all of these players added to their team next year, plus sensational rookie outfielders Tommy Pham and Stephen Piscotty will be up from the beginning of the season. Going into the playoffs, Molina is playing with a torn ligament in his thumb, Wainwright came back from Achilles surgery in 5 months and can only pitch a limited amount out of the bullpen, and their # 2 starter Martinez was shut down in September and not pitching, and a lot of players are playing hurt.

The Cardinals won 100 games with all of these injuries. How many would the Pirates have won with the same injuries ? Same with the Cubs. Take away Arrieta, Lester, Bryant, Fowler, etc. and then we are playing on equal footing. I didn't know much about Maddon until he came to the Cubs. He is an ass and a constant whiner. Too bad the Pirates didn't beat him.
