Ok my inspiration for this post is the fact that’s there’s a Christmas song that I don’t think I ever heard until 2 weeks ago, and now that I have, I hear it every time I walk into a store or restaurant. It’s unbelievable that I missed this song for the past 25 years? It’s pretty good and it’s everywhere I go. I’ll link it below.

The song is “Christmastime” by Smashing Pumpkins. It’s from 1997, but I only first heard it watching The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special a few weeks ago. The song prominently is played during the show. So is this song seeing a Kate Bush Running up the Hill resurgence because of a streaming tv show, or have I lived under a rock for 25 years?

In any event, what are some other potentially obscure Christmas songs that one could be missing out on?

Not looking for Bing Crosby or the Ronettes here. Those are timeless traditional Christmas greats. Looking for the ones I could be missing out on like the Pumpkins.

Anyone?

i always liked the one christmas song where the dude went out to get away from his pain in the ass wife, saw an ex girlfriend at a store and they got a six pack and drank it in the car with her. i dont think he banged her though and then it kind of ends with a Kenny G like sax send off.

really gives you that warm and fuzzy holiday feeling..

That was a New Year's song and it was loosely based on a true story.

Just look up John Waters Christmas album. Everything on that fits what you're talking about...

I think this should be a lot more popular than what it is. I always seem to forget about it until I hear it. It does not seem to be on the radio / tv much.

I like it. I love the old traditional Christmas stuff that’s older than I am. Crosby, Sinatra, old Motown, Beach Boys, etc. But I don’t know how old you think I am. Lol.

Another one not well known; a traditional song, but rocked out by a legendary duo…the song is along the lines of 12 Days Of Christmas, probably be cool to hear a gospel choir do it…
