What is so bad about them? I never understood the fuss, but I don't mind hearing them in the summer nights.
Haven't heard any in my neck of the woods. I remember back in '02 I was getting off the pike in Bedford and the noise of the Cicadas was deafening. Unbelievable.Okay, they are now getting more than annoying.
I remember locusts in the summer when I was a kid being really loud. many summers though and its a noise I haven't heard in quite some time..What is so bad about them? I never understood the fuss, but I don't mind hearing them in the summer nights.

these 17 year things haven't been to the south hills, they must not like the roads or traffic cause I haven't heard one of them yet..
peters, as is everyone, a bunch of my buddies live there.. cant go wrong with peters twp. out of my price range but hey, god bless you. they are building a new school so if you got kids, im sure they'll be going to high school in the nicest high school in pa in a few short years.Zelda you live in the South Hills.. I’m considering the jump to Peters..
Yeah, don't live too far from Deer Lakes Park. It is ridiculous here.None in North Huntingdon ... was at a spray park Saturday in Deer Lakes it was almost biblical.. everywhere.
Yeah....these aren't your normal locusts. Those are actually pleasant sounding and relaxing. These only come out in daylight and are deafening right now. They don't bite, but driving yesterday, all of a sudden I notice one of these ugly monsters crawling on my shoulder. The cars just get pelted with them. Probably 2 more weeks and they be gone. They seem to quiet down around 5:30 PM where I live.

I'm glad you posted that, because I thought those emerged all over the country at the same 17 year interval, and I hadn't seen or heard one.
Club at Shadow Lakes (golf course in Aliquippa) is infested. There were plenty of carcasses so it stunk in some spots too.
None here in the Eastern Mon-valley .
Just your constant sirens and occasional gun fire .
Hmmm. I want to be offended but I’m not. It was a good one.Was one of the carcasses of the broad that was sleeping with a 17 year old... if I offend anyone sorry.
I’m in Collier and it is overwhelming here. It is a legitimate cacophony. Honestly, my dog won’t even go out sometimes because she’s intimidated by all the noise. No cicadas in Crafton/Carnegie but the short drive down Noblestown to Rennerdale is like running the gauntlet. Crazy that they don't even exist two miles over in my neighborhood.
How is that possible??Haven't seen or heard a single one in my area of North Hills. Saw one when we were at Cranberry Park for my kid's ballgame.
How is that possible??
No idea, I was hoping to show the kids. Guess we need to drive your way!
Maybe im jinxing it, but i'm a northerner as well and have had no sightings (or hearings) so farHow is that possible??
Yikes.this type of Secada only emerges once every 27 years, and the sound is unbearable. Just be thankful you're dealing with the other kind:
Plenty of them in Armstrong County.Maybe im jinxing it, but i'm a northerner as well and have had no sightings (or hearings) so far
