OT: Cicadas

What is so bad about them? I never understood the fuss, but I don't mind hearing them in the summer nights.
I remember locusts in the summer when I was a kid being really loud. many summers though and its a noise I haven't heard in quite some time..

these 17 year things haven't been to the south hills, they must not like the roads or traffic cause I haven't heard one of them yet..

peters, as is everyone, a bunch of my buddies live there.. cant go wrong with peters twp. out of my price range but hey, god bless you. they are building a new school so if you got kids, im sure they'll be going to high school in the nicest high school in pa in a few short years.

They seem to quiet down around 5:30 PM where I live.
Yeah....these aren't your normal locusts. Those are actually pleasant sounding and relaxing. These only come out in daylight and are deafening right now. They don't bite, but driving yesterday, all of a sudden I notice one of these ugly monsters crawling on my shoulder. The cars just get pelted with them. Probably 2 more weeks and they be gone.

No cicadas in Crafton/Carnegie but the short drive down Noblestown to Rennerdale is like running the gauntlet. Crazy that they don't even exist two miles over in my neighborhood.

Been window shopping in Peters for over a year... I love the east but now work in the South Hills.. the big reason is the school and the activities for the kids...

I’m in Collier and it is overwhelming here. It is a legitimate cacophony. Honestly, my dog won’t even go out sometimes because she’s intimidated by all the noise.

Have not seen a single one either...out by Oakdale/Robinson/Moon area. Also none downtown.

Take advantage of the latest brood. Dip them in batter and deep fry them.

this type of Secada only emerges once every 27 years, and the sound is unbearable. Just be thankful you're dealing with the other kind:
