OT: "Construction of the US Steel Building, c. 1969"

While I was born into a poor family my uncle was a past CFO of USS and was a good man. When I decided to move back to Pgh I stayed with him and my aunt while I started my new job in banking. He took me to lunch one day to the Top of the Triangle and when we got off the elevator there was a greeter who greeted him knowing his name. I was so impressed and in awe of the moving restaurant.

This was 1983 and the triangle was theee place to go. Great building!

My wife and I liked to eat at "The Top of the Triangle" too.

The Top of the Triangle restaurant occupied the 62nd floor for 30 years before closing in 2001. A Pittsburgh landmark, the building appears in several Hollywood movies including “Dogma,” “Sudden Death,” “Striking Distance,” “Jack Reacher” and “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Here was the view from the "Top":

I worked at the Steel Building for about five years in the early 90s and the impression left on me was it still had its late 60’s/early 70s vibe to it. It badly needed modernized.

I did enjoy the TotT, ate there frequently with sales guys who had limitless expense accounts. Was there once on pirates opening day circa 1992 or so, and could look down on 3 Rivers from there as they released a large bunch of balloons…cool sight to see those rise up and out of the stadium from that angle.

Mom worked there from opening to 1998 for Chem division that was then Aristech Chem,Sunoco, and changed another time or 2.
28th floor and you could still feel it sway lol.

I worked on 22 and 41 for a while. Was in a conference room back when that earthquake struck in Virginia. The lights overhead were swaying and everyone got very quiet.
