OT: Despite failing to complete a pass all season, California high school earns spot in state championship

This is close to how Aliquippa won for many years. Never passes and never kicked extra points or Field goals, but still rampaged.

Ironic isn’t it that the most famous football playing former resident of Granada Hills is John Elway. Of course, this school didn’t exist back when he was playing high school ball.

It didn't? From the linked article:

Granada Hills is the alma mater of legendary NFL quarterback John Elway.

In any event, I guess the coach figured the next John Elway wasn't walking through the door.

Granada Hills HS where Elway went doesn’t exist. There were two high schools in Granada Hills. John F Kennedy HS is only about 8 blocks away to the east. There is another high school, Chatsworth, which is only about 10 blocks to the west. So, they closed Granada Hills and converted it into a charter HS. It draws students from Granada Hills, Chatsworth, Northridge and other parts of the northern San Fernando Valley. They did that everywhere in LA where there were two or three high schools close together. So, it’s in the same buildings on the same campus as Elway attended, but it’s a different school. The article technically is wrong, but it’s a nice story line for the writer.

Same buildings, same campus, same name, totally different schools. Got it.
