This whole Rich Rodriguez deal keeps getting stranger and stranger. According to the complaint, he literally had a staffer assigned to keep his wife and his girlfriend separated on the sidelines at UA football games.
Also, he allegedly repeatedly tried to put the moves on his administrative assistant and touched himself while talking to her during one meeting in his office.
His career as a major college football coach is definitely over — and rightly so.
However, what’s most interesting to me is that former Pitt staffer, Matt Dudek is prominently mentioned in the complaint. He is definitely going to be a central figure in that case.
Also, I remember when Todd Graham was here one of the things that really alarmed the Pitt administrators was his repeated attempts to form what he called a “circle of trust” among coaches and some staffers.
He also wanted a similar type of network among the highest level donors and the administration absolutely did not want that. That raised all kinds of red flags among Pederson, Nordenberg, etc. and that is basically what fractured that relationship.
It would now appear that he was basically just copying the model that he learned when he was an assistant coach under Rich Rodriguez at West Virginia.
Also, I definitely recall that Rodriguez and then West Virginia athletic director, Ed Pastilong had a very antagonistic relationship. Again, maybe now we know why?
