So I was arguing with a ND fan I work with on amount of championships Pitt had, as I said 9 and he claimed 2. Different articles, different opinions, whatever (although official NCAA records say 9 after they had a professional do the research and stake claims). But I was reading about the '76 team and reading about the season and saw this happened during the Navy game:

On October 23, the Panthers travelled to Annapolis to face Navy during which Dorsett broke the NCAA career rushing record on a 32-yard touchdown run in Pitt's 45-0 victory. Dorsett's achievement prompted a mid-game celebration in which even Navy saluted the feat with a cannon blast.[5]

I remember seeing him on the Heisman House where he said he wished he would have saved that for the next week at home for the Pitt fans and that that was one of his biggest regrets, but that is still a pretty damn cool thing to have happen. I don't know if something like that would ever happen in today's game.

Also, this is one hell of a coaching adjustment if true:

At a packed Three Rivers Stadium on the day after Thanksgiving, the Nittany Lions held Dorsett to 51 yards in the first half and had the game tied 7-7. Majors adjusted for the second half by shifting Dorsett from tailback to fullback, enabling him to explode for an additional 173 yards as Pitt rolled to a 24-7 victory that capped an undefeated regular season.[6]
