I had a real bone to pick with Poni and Mueller on the Fan last week. Sometimes they act like they are the know all be all when it comes to football. Actually, they do all the time.
In any event an older yinzer called the show and said that the Steelers should have signed Flacco as their backup and they mocked and made fun of the guy. Why? Not because his salary alone is more than what the Steelers are paying all 3 of their guys…but because he stinks and no other team offered Flacco $40 million to be their starter.
I didn’t agree with the old guy, but I thought the radio hosts were completely wrong and unfair with the things they were saying about Flacco. Because in my opinion, the only reason Flacco isn’t getting paid is because he's 39. If he were 29, he’d have every team in the league without a franchise QB salivating over him. A QB that plays like him and is 29 would have an 300 million dollar payday. Ignore his age and just look at his play…he’s really really good. And he’s showing it again today. He’s like 9-1 in his last 10 starts. If you have to wins game or two, I’d take him in a heartbeat.
