OT: Garrit Cole dominating again

He's hit 98 a couple of times today. Just his fastball has no movement and he doesn't surprise anyone.
Location location location. Cole can't get the ball where it needs to be and that is the secret to pitching. This Teheran dude is throwing in the 80s but hits his spots. And as usual the Bucs try to hit everything 500 feet instead of going with the pitch and making contact.

Pirates sweep .... walk-off 2 run home run by Marte in the 10th !

I openly root against the pirates every game so fans don't go, nutting loses money and then sells. I'll never attend a Pirates game ever again as long as Nutting runs the team.

The best starter on the team is Jameson Taillon and it's not even close. If he continues to get better and better, that's the guy they need to lock up for the future, not Gerritt Cole.

Can we let taillon pitch a half a season before we annoying him as our ace? Two years ago people were talking cry young for Cole.

How's your war going? You winning?

I feel good about myself....that's good enough for me. Some time in tour life you should try and be a man and stand for something....you'll feel good. I've had quite a few family, friends and co-workers agree with me and also boycott games....kinda suprised myself. Playoff hockey also helps convince these people to not give a damn about the Pirates.

Tonight when you brush you teeth look in the mirror asks yourself if anyone really cares what you think of Nutting. Personally I can not stand Baseball. I'd trade the Pirates for the NBA Cavilers today. With that said I would bet any amount of money that when the Pirates won 98 games you were screaming and cheering at the top of your lungs when the Pirates were coming down the home stretch. You may have actually gone to some games too. But here's the thing ya arrogant tool I don't spend my time by manning up regarding a rich baseball owner spaending $75-$100 million on payroll instead of $150 million. You're a drama queen.

Would you have traded for the Cavs before Lebron?

What the heck kind of silly comment is that.

By the way, I too would trade my old Cavalier for a new BMW.

Cole's issues are he hasnt fully development out his other pitches and has issues with the placement of his fast ball. He still tries to gun it past the batter more times than not, but there are a lot of pitchers who can get up their on the radar gun. Batters adjust as they see that speed. At this point as someone else said, he is more a #3 pitchers than a #1 until he improves on those two areas.

He most definitely has #1 starter stuff. It might just be mental at this point. Whatever the case something is not right. They got the win yesterday, but we saw the same thing several times last year.... pirates win the first two games of a series against a bad team, cole is up for game 3, before you know it pirates are behind in the first. I'm not so sure he ever got over the lack of a contract last season.

Cole definitely has #1 starter stuff. The issue with Cole is not his stuff. The dude is a head case. He needs to learn to control his emotions and use them to benefit himself instead of hurt his outings which is what he does now.

He lets one AB turn around his whole starts.

But I would agree, if Taillon stays healthy, he will be their number #1. His stuff is good and more importantly his mental make up is absolutely fantastic for a SP.

It will all come down to Glasnow, as I think was always the case. If he can take steps then our 1-4 is playoff capable, even if we don't have a true ace. If he struggles we will have two unpredictable spots in the rotation with him and Kuhl. Either way, this rotation is better than last year's (not saying much, I know). It is nice not to see Locke and his lousy attitude every five starts.

Taillion could be a legit ace by year's end. His mental approach from day one has been extremely impressive. Cole could learn a few things from him.

I think Cole will eventually figure it out. But unfortunately by the time he does it, he will be either ready for free agency or gone already.

Like I said, Cole was touching 98 a couple of times and the Braves were completely unfazed. He must be an open book out there when he pitches. Alot of guys their delivery can be hard to read, or the way they hold the ball it is hard to pick up a fast ball vs breaking ball until it is too late. Plus again, his fastball doesn't seem to have much movement.

he doesn't seem to set up his fastball at all, probably just experience. Walk was talking about it, these guys are really unfazed with 98 MPH unless they are caught guessing. Marte hit that HR yesterday on a 98 mph fastball, almost seemed like he was waiting on it.. I saw 98mph on replay and I was surprised, these guys just have no issues with handling high 90's anymore, it's not like the past when someone like Nolan Ryan or even Dibble would throw 98 and most of the batters looked helpless..

Yeah even from a spectator's standpoint, not all 98mph fast balls are created equal. Some look ordinary. Some look explosive. Some look heavy. I know 98 is 98 on the radar gun. but when you can throw a mid 80's change or breaking pitch, that 98 looks more like 108. And if it is fairly flat, if I am guessing fastball, I can hit it a long way (see Marte's HR).

Agree his stuff is fine. His control could be better yes. but his main issue is if something goes wrong he falls apart.

1.) yes, people care what I feel about nutting
2.) I openly rooted against the Pirates in public at local bars during the playoffs
3.) i have not and will not go to games. I've passed on MANY tickets from vendors etc

Once again, your dumbass is wrong. Keep thinking you know though.

Man I hope someone, other than me, called you out as the attention seeking geek that you are. If you were never a Pirate fan, I'm not a baseball fan, then cool. If you claim to be a Pirate fan before Nutting then went to a bar and literally cheered for the other team you truly are the text book example of a Drama Queen! My guess is you're like NTOP and Harve telling everyone that will listen that you despise Pitt because of Stevie P or one and done Barnes. I could care less if the Pirates won 100 games or 60 games. I'd trade the Pirates for an NBA team today. But what Pittsburgher goes to a bar and roots against the team they grew up cheering for just because the owner is smackoff? I can't stand Nutting and and have little interest in ever going to a Pirate game. But there's something about you that screams, Drama Queen Geek!!!!

Well, we're ****ed.
