OT: high school sports participation by sport and gender

HS sports participation continues to climb. Interesting data here.

Football participation continues to lead the pack but I wonder where that number will be in 10 years due to concussions.

Basketball is offered by more schools than any other sport.

Soccer is close to overtaking baseball, with essentially the same participation. Which is not a surprise to me.

Football participation has leveled off and at the lower "youth" levels it has declined. There are a variety of factors and it's different in every state/area. Some "football" hot-beds are up but places like Ohio have declined. Really don't know where it's going but the increase in awareness to head injuries plays a factor.
