I was just wondering how many of us Pantherlair old-farts spend our weekends injuring ourselves still playing for the glory. I thought of this as I prepare for a Masters Games ice hockey tournament this week. I play goalie in our local beer league and there are some 20-30-ish year old American and Canadian transplants who are pretty good players. Get me out there with the 40 year olds like this week and I have a fighting chance.

Goalieman would pick my game apart because at 50, butterfly is not a style, it is an injury. I don't have a 5 hole. I have a 5, 6 and 7 hole.

So fess-up, who on here still longs for the glory days and still battles to achieve it? Softball, golf (keeping actual score), basketball, lawn bowls...who's the Champion?

I stopped playing hockey about 3 years ago when I turned 35. Now I just talk about coming back....next year all the time, but with no intentions of coming back :)

9 vs 9 flag football is a thing further east. Except it's pretty much full contact for blocking. Amazing how many former college guys (D1 included) played in that league. I played that until I was 44 when an arthritic condition forced me to stop but there are competitive tournaments as close as Hagerstown and it's huge in the Baltimore/DC area.

I pretty much stopped playing competing around 35 also. Mainly because my kids getting involved with sports themselves. I still miss playing at times even though my better years were way past me.
