Once again how penny pinching and tone deaf the team is. Im as pragmatic as anyone but this drunken clown was never going to win them a WS or even get them close to one. He never should have been brought back to the team. But(thanks to his desperation probably) was likely very cheap for them to sign and put out there, regardless of the awful optics he presents. Good for them for it backfiring.
Typical of the Pirates--while other teams find gems in the Asian markets, the Pirates end up with Jung Ho Dung and that Aki guy before that.
I think you are forgetting how good Kung was before that idiot in Chicago destroyed his knee.
.287/.355/.461 then .255/.354/.513 before the injury. That's some high level production for a guy who was making $2.5 million a season. Especially when the guy is a drunk!
Not sure that’s fair. Kang was very productive for awhile and had a lot of upside.
Then booze, injuries, time off, and age caught up. I’d imagine trying to put it back together in a foreign country adds to it. It was a perfect storm of poor behavior and bad timing that derailed his career.
I guess I'm more concerned with these pitchers they're trotting out there. They may as well adopt that "Who Dat" chant.
If the '27 Yankees cared about "optics" fat, drunken slob Babe Ruth shouldn't have been out there.
