OT - Juwan Howard has lost his mind

I mean. My guess is you're making a "women be emotional" argument in which case you are dumb and unable to see the thousands of daily examples (both on this board, in sports, and in life) that men are every bit as emotionally unhinged. But I thought I'd ask for clarification!

You didn’t ask for clarification. But since no one cares about women’s basketball, he could represent Michigan there and hopefully not try to assault women.

your arguments are I can’t read (read perfectly what you said) and everyone saying it’s Howard’s fault is racist. Tell me you’re not a lawyer
Not a lawyer but apparently have a better grasp on that mysterious language known as English. 😆

That would be typical logic, if you can call it that, from someone like the poster you responded to. Anyone with 2 eyes and common sense knows that this Howard douchebag is garbage and a sissy. He should be fired and barred from ever coaching again for anyone. And it has nothing to do with the color of his skin, only the content of his character....which is very low level.

I think most on this thread is missing what happened.

If you watch it closely, Howard says his peace and is walking by until Gard puts his hands on him. Then they are jawing back and forth. This is on both of them.

Both coaches and at least #0 for Wisconsin should be looking at a minimum of a 10 game suspension.

All of that said, the B1G is ok with athletic programs raping children they probably view this altercation as a step in the right direction.
I don’t think anyone in this thread is missing what happened. Rather, I think many feel that Gard’s touch of the hand to Howard’s arm doesn’t come anywhere close to justifying Howard’s response.

He made a stupid joke .
Outside of one or two misguided souls justifying his actions /
Sensible folks acknowledge he should be suspended at least .

I didn’t miss anything. I’m not particularly fond of being touched like that either so I’m good if they give Gard a little something.

But as far as Howard, throwing hands is quite an escalation. And it wasn’t even a direct response. Time had passed and he decided to rejoin the fray and threw hands at someone else. He’s a complete and total ass.

Howard has been suspended for the rest of the season.
Deserved. Hopefully his 3rd incident (which would’ve lead to a firing for most coaches) will correct this adult’s behavior.

Thank god we have a coach that would never do something so stupid. I may not agree with his recruiting or coaching philosophies but he’s not a jackass. And does anyone really believe if he did, they wouldn’t fire for cause?

Pitt would and should

Capel has plenty of flaws - but acting like a jackass isn’t one of them

You, by trying to attempt a coach grabbing someone’s arm as a reason to escalate stuff. That’s a defense. Coach’s do that ALL the time. Howard is a player, not a coach. He should be out of a job
And Juwan Howard played in the NBA for 18 years, where physical contact was a nightly fact of life. Pushing, shoving, hand checking and more were and are accepted as part of the game. How did he all of a sudden become so sensitive that a hand on his arm sends him into a fit of rage? Particularly against a guy who is about a foot shorter.

This takes me back to the 1978 Gator Bowl when Woody Hayes punched out a Clemson player and Ohio State fired him for it. What Howard did was thug behavior and there's no question that Michigan should fire him. Just like what Hayes did was a major embarrassment for Ohio State, this should be a major embarrassment for Michigan.

Based on their previous courtside (documented) amicable meetings Gard had no reason to believe Howard would act the way he did. Arm wasn’t grabbed out of anger - just tried to stop Howard from blowing by him - and the intent was to explain the timeout since Howard started the chirping before the game ended. Coaches do this all the time when they feel an explanation is warranted about any player actions or coaching decisions. The ESCALATION in this case falls solely on one person.

didnt narduzzi kind of do something similar with the GT coach a few years back? of course that guy just stormed off and didnt throw a punch..

Probably more instinctive but if the losing coach wants to blow off the handshake, just move on..

Not anyway like the Howard bitch slap. Duzz went to shake hands and the tech douche pulled away.

You coach your team and I will coach mine. But in today's world snowflakes like Howard believe it is their right to force their beliefs ,opinions etc. onto others, many times solely to benefit themselves.
I don't know how this veered off into a rant about someone wanting to force their beliefs or opinions on others, but anyway . . .

I recall Juwan "explaining" his actions in the Maryland incident as "Chicago raised me". While I understand where he's coming from (I spent seven years in Chicago and often ventured into Juwan's neighborhood to date a young lady there), he needs to put Chicago behind him. That behavior is neither acceptable nor appropriate outside of that environment, particularly for a grown man with a college education.

You're delusional and should probably sit this one out.

Everyone already knew the B1G wouldn't take serious action against anyone because they only care about money. The suspensions are a joke and just like Gard's fine.

Howard claims he became angry because the other coach called a time out. That is it, that is Howard's own explanation/rationalization. Howard believes other coaches should consider his feelings before they make coaching decisions for their team, that is how.

Sorry but a college education don't mean 💩

This board is a perfect example of people with college degrees that say and do dumb 💩 every day.
My point was that there is a certain level of refinement that should come with that exposure.

previous interactions between the two. I cannot believe he didn’t feel threatened the last time the old guy a foot shorter than him grabbed his arm 🙄

If there was any similarities between any of those situations and this one - Gard would have had many more $10k fines.

But as you should see now, he was fined for his role in that shitshow not for shaking hands.

He had no role in it. Howard escalated the situation. He’s an embarrassment.

As I’ve done more digging, Howard had TWO previous beefs with Maryland staffers before the Turgeon blow up. Turgeon reported him to the conference the first time, then told the conference he would take care of it after the 2nd time he reported it if they did nothing. That’s where you see the third blowup.

Howard is an all time clown and he’s not even a good coach. Shouldn’t be employed by a college hoops program.

Doing nothing is perfect reason to fine the guy 🤔.

You think you’ve done something here, you haven’t. He ain’t even paying it
No shit. The team thinks he and staff are racists - which resulted in nothing besides the players exposing the toxic environment. The B1G only cares about money not doing the right things.
