Capel is going to be the coaching vet of the conference soon.Scandal correct???
Scandal correct???
Beats me but when I read it I just thought he’s old and they suck, time to move on. But it certainly could be.Scandal correct???
What’s not to understand? Ok you don’t want to work until you are 70, I do. I like my job, have great friends at work, make good money, and have no hobbies other than watching sports that I want to pursue for 40 hours per week. I can understand your point of view and coaches that want to coach until they are 70 too.I can’t understand why coaches work into their 70s .
It’s insane .
What is a trip to the Final Four to these kids? Their moms probably have two bedrooms full of trophies from tournaments they played in all their lives.
This describes the problem with all college football and basketball now.

They either want playing time or money.
Honestly think Capel has done a good job of quickly understanding NIL and the state of college basketball.
Millionaire coaches can’t just keep all the on money and need to work all year round?!?This describes the problem with all college football and basketball now.

Players are meant to commit to a team, stay there 4-5 years, get better, contribute, etc. That's what college sports is all about.Millionaire coaches can’t just keep all the on money and need to work all year round?!?
So then why aren't coaches required to stay for the entire length of the contract they enter with a school? The contract represents their negotiated commitment, which they often break. Relationships already mean nothing in college sports, the coaches are getting a taste of their own medicine.Players are meant to commit to a team, stay there 4-5 years, get better, contribute, etc. That's what college sports is all about.
Destroying that makes coaches hate the current system just as much as the fans do. Relationships mean nothing.

My only issue is why wait until halfway through the season? If Miami was 10-2 right now would he really be stepping down? Seems like an easy excuse for all coaches to step down or blame if they aren't having the success they are used too.
Just like there is a clause saying a player isn't guaranteed a scholarship each year after year 1 in the program. Listen, I dislike what college athletics has become. But fairness says that the players should not have to be loyal to program for 4+ years if the coach does not have to be committed to the program for the length of time that he said he was going to be.The contract contains a buyout clause. Tell the schools to try to attract coaches without that clause. It protects both parties.

They are required. But there are buyouts, exemptions, whatever, etc. Coaches are not equivalent to players. They are not the same.So then why aren't coaches required to stay for the entire length of the contract they enter with a school? Coaches aren’t committed to schools that long despite being paid wellPlayers are meant to commit to a team, stay there 4-5 years, get better, contribute, etc. That's what college sports is all about.
Destroying that makes coaches hate the current system just as much as the fans do. Relationships mean nothing. Coaching ability means nothing. There are no more cultures. It's just random college students on year to year pro contracts with no penalty for transferring. It's a total nightmare.
Coaches will always make a lot. I don't think they have to work any harder now. They just need big nil funds. That's all that is required these days. Makes the coaches helpless.
If coach K coached during nil, and Dook didn't put out top nil money, he would quit too.
