This Twitter thread is baffling. Unless I missed something, there’s nothing partisan about his visit to the White House, yet people are absolutely unhinged. And even if it was partisan, who cares?

If he is shown buddying-up to a certain dude, I will care immensely. We are all entitled to care about what we want to care about.

Well a majority of men 18-40 voted for Trump…so my advice is to separate your sports from politics and not worry about it because players you root for are likely supporting the President.

Nah, I'm a bigger fan of the Constitution than I am of sports, and I have children and grandchildren that would benefit from it staying in place. Far bigger issue for us than anything in the world of sports.

If my opinion leads me to thinking less of some athletes, so be it.

Just a hunch, but I’m going to guess that you’re selective when it comes to your pols and the constitution.

That’s some tacky ass decor… Jesus what are they going for “fake gold North Korean contemporary “…?

Like a 4 year olds idea of cLAsS…🤦‍♂️… junk… pure junk.

Be honest FK, did you think for a moment that was a Darth Vader bust on the left?

Not sure how you can say that, since only one pol I can think of has held the Constitution in such disdain.

But whatever. Go enjoy your Cybertruck.

Oh please. Go over to the Locker Room and discuss it, Chief. Then we will see how knowledgeable on the constitution you are.

this is a practice that needs to end, it is extremely outdated. championship sports teams visiting the WH. these guys dont care, college or professional. it's extremely awkward, staged, no one wants to be there, the POTUS has better things to do and frankly, so do professional and collegiate champions..

save the field trips to DC for grade schools and end this ridiculously dumb practice..

If Narduzzi wore a MAGA hat to every game and won a Natty, I'd love the guy
yeah, i am with you. give me a pitt hoops coach that kneels on a prayer rug facing east at halftime, with his wife dressed in a black cloak behind the bench waving a palestinian flag and if we get into the final four, i'd still like the guy..

amazing what we'll overlook if the coach can be successful on the field/court.. just ask any paterno, psu football fan, we arent that different..

That is some visual. I picture her waving the Palestinian flag all game like that Flag guy at the Field House. One of the great travesties in Pitt basketball history is that guy never made the move to The Pete.

Showing up when your presence is requested is still an honor.
it's really not though. in 1986, maybe. this is just so dumb, outdated, any 6th grader can get a tour to the white house, it's no big deal. again, we've all seen the white house, it's not an honor.

its' a waste of time. trump, biden, obama, bush, doesnt matter who is in office, these players dont give a S. just let them enjoy their ring/trophy how they want too and quit making them go to DC for what is nothing more than a photo op.

Yep. That’s the thing. I’ve always loved Jeff Capel. He wears his politics on his sleeve and I never once held it against him. I have always respected the place from which his politics come.

Now granted, it’s becoming difficult to like him now…but that’s as a coach and not as a human.

I don't have a problem if you disagree on the merit of the trip but we used to show respect to the office. That's the point. You can dislike the man but you respect his office. There's another side to this but it isn't relevant to the conversation.

I'm knowledgeable enough to know that it's a good thing. You make it sound like you disagree with my opinion on that, which frankly astounds me.

Like I said, go over there and discuss. Every president ever, including ones you surely supported, are challenged constitutionally. It’s up to the courts to decide which is executive overreach and what isn’t. This isn’t the place to discuss. The locker room is.

i agree, respect the office. but if someone doesnt want to go, i have no issues with that. grown men shouldnt feel like they have to go to this photo shoot.

But yes, IF you do decide to accept the invitation, you act the part and follow the guided tour, smile for the cameras and act like you dont want to be anywhere else but in DC>

If the team is going and you're on the team, you should go. I agree that the whole thing is dumb but sometimes that's part of the gig.

I was with you till you brought up JoePa. I ain't overlooking no child sex abuse in the name of sports bro. It's actually disrespectful to the victims the way people make jokes out of it on here. Not trying to be the moral police....I just know people who were victims of child abuse. It haunts forever. However your point is valid. Heck, look how easily people got over Melledgeville when Ben came back from suspension and took the Steelers to another Super Bowl.....come to think of it many Steelers fans are also fans of..... Hmm 🤔 🧐

Hell, no. Nobody needs to do something that they are uncomfortable with just because their "team" is going. We are all on many teams at all times, not just athletic. I couldn't disagree with you more on this.

Everybody here loves to hate dead Joe Paterno. If he were alive, and your kid was on a "team" that was going to meet him, would you just shrug your shoulders and say "OK"? I think not.

Awful post. Sorry but no sugarcoating it here.

I’m not sure I understand this argument in relation to Rudolph anyway?

Didn’t he do this on his own? Surely the Steelers weren’t planning a visit?

Yeah. A lot of people tossing out arguments about this that don't necessarily fit whatever the situation is.

A white guy from South Carolina liking our current office holder isn't exactly news. :) I don't believe he was there in an official Steeler capacity either.

To me this is much ado about nothing. If he wants to visit the White House, so what? As someone who is no fan of Trump, I'd accept an invite too. The White House ain't the Presidents house. It is the people's house. We just let the President live/work there. If I'm offered a visit, you can be damned sure I'm going regardless of who is in charge there. I'm not going to judge Mason Rudolph.

Please. Stop being so dramatic. Of course I would because kids are eager to go see famous sports figures. Sometimes you have to tow the line for the team and avoid controversy. People willingly bend over for work all the time but want to draw a line over something like this.
