Jerry should go after tomlin, take him off our hands, and then have the same exact coach in Dallas that he had with McCarthy.

Insane that jones refused to allow him to interview for other jobs .

But he’s not afraid to spend, unlike another owner locally

It’s all a drop in a bucket for their operating revenue annually .

Smallest staff in our own division by far .

So it looks like I was using old data and Tomlin is actually at $16M/year.

Here are what the other teams pay their coaches:

Ravens - $12M
Bengals - $4.5M
Browns - $3.5M

So, no amount of "extra coaches" to add to the staff are going to make up for that extremely large difference. The Steelers are still paying their coaches more.

Sssshhhhhh. It doesn’t fit the narrative that mediocre Mike is hamstrung by Rooney.

Haha. True. But they still have a small staff. Rooney is the problem and Tomlin isn’t the solution. Obviously.

Tomlin is the 5th highest paid coach in all of American sports.

It’s not working.
Can’t hurt the profit margins -it’s probably the minority owners paying his salary .

16 million for a smooth talking fraud. That is unbelievable. They could get a better coach for 4 million and save the 12 million for players. It's incompetence at its best. This team is truly taking steps to become a league bottom feeder. 5 more years of Tomlin and we might actually get to the bottom.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again, if Tomlin thought the Rooneys were "pinching' him on the size of the staff you'd know about it. The fact that his apologist's in the media haven't brought this up indicates that he's perfectly fine with the size of the staff.

His boss is fine with it

i think the odds on favorite is Prime Time coaching dallas next year. Especially if they have a shot at drafting his son.
So you think Dallas trades Dak and the huge contract they just gave him, then gives up those assets to get into the top 5 to draft Deion's overrated QB son in an attempt to lure someone that isn't even an X and O guy?

Ah the old “I love (fill in the blank) where I’m at”. He’s gone. He’s either going to Dallas or he’ll find another gig. He’s topped out at Boulder
truth be told, i like college football better than the nfl so i think he's more polarizing (interesting) in college football than he will be in the nfl. the nfl has a way of limiting Head coaches, they will NEVER be bigger than the team or the players. in college, that's not the case.

just my two cents,

What a list. I'm shocked Cowher isn't also on there.

yeah, just stupid betting odds. the same site has Aaron Rodgers as the odds on favorite to be with the steelers next year so nothing to get too excited about..

the fact that jones called him yesterday about the job is much more relevant.

Mike Tomlin.

Darn it.

Was listening to Crowley and Dorin this AM.

Crowley posed the question: as a fan, what franchise is in a better situation than the Steelers right now.?

Dorin quickly made it through 20+ franchises with ease in which fans have it better than steeler fans, before stopping at the cowboys. Dorin was stumped with this one, and ultimately said cowboys fans are in better shape, simply because they don’t have a coach and the Steelers still have who we have.

I wish he would have made it through the entire league, instead of only the first 23 or so teams that came to mind. I would have been interested to hear if there were any fanbases worse off than steeler fans right now in his/Crowley’s eyes. I bet if they had kept going they might have determined that there are 28-30 fanbases with more hope than we have.
