shawshank redemption (literally try not to watch it but end up watching it)

I always keep Godfather Part 1 and 2 on for a bit, but wind up changing the channel after about 25-30 mins when I remember that watching those movies with commercial breaks takes about 5 hours and 45 minutes.

Training Day though? I can't turn that movie off.

Godfather 2 is great up until they get into cuba and hyman roth. love the deniro flashbacks though and him at Vito and how he gets into power.

I'll start with your list but exclude Point break and Blow.

Add
Casino
Alien(s) both
Black Hawk Down.

These come to mind quickly...........

Like those, especially Aliens and BlackHawk.

Is there any single better character ever than Bill Paxton in Aliens? Game over man, game over.

The other night I was flipping between Shawshank and A Few Good Men in between commercials. Happened to be channel surfing and both were on. It didn't matter what I missed on each since I've seen them so many times.

I take this topic as a - what movie can you jump into anywhere and enjoy watching it. A lot good ones in this thread. I'll add:
Bloodsport
Caddyshack
Trading Places
Forrest Gump
Patton
Platoon
The Bridge on the River Kwai - had to add this, just so good.

A lot of these favorites
indicate the age of the
respondents. I being older
go with these:
Dr. Strangelove
On the Beach
Dr. Zhivago
Cool Hand Luke
Raging Bull
Goodfellas
The Godfather
Bridge Over the River Kwai
Lawrence of Arabia
A League of Their Own
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs

Office Space
Dumb and Dumber
Goodfellas
Life is Beautiful
Breaking Away
Field of Dreams
Hoosiers

I do love The Godfather movies (all 3 really) but another poster hit the nail on the head with the time invested. I will also say I probably have not had cable in like 5 years so I only steam now

Half of those you won't ever come across while channel surfing. Maybe would run across them while surfing your DVD collection.... Good list tho.

Raiders of the Lost Ark. Saturday was the 40th birthday of that film debuting and the best.

Gary Oldman is fantastic. Criminal Law. True Romance.

It's been a LONG time since I've actually flipped through channels and got sucked into something that was on, but before streaming I couldn't resist watching The Dirty Dozen and Kelly's Heroes when surfing onto to them. I think they are the same movie just mashed together in my head.

My streaming guilty pleasure is The Da Vinci Code when I come across it on whatever service has it.

I don’t know why, but for me when channel- surfing, it was always one of the Matt Damon Bourne movies that I’d stop and watch even though I ‘d seen it multiple times already.
