- I initially liked the hire of Jeff Capel
- I fell in line and supported the hire Of Mike Haywood. I was for giving him a chance.
- I think Pitt should state the legal system is usually a very slow process. Players should be allowed to play until guilt has been established. After the legal situation is resolved, a parallel internal investigation should make the ultimate determination as to wether a player continues in the Program.
- Brian Flores was hired with the expectation he would oversee rebuilding and losing. He vastly exceeded expectations. His owners never envisioned him as coaching their team when it had a chance to win. They fired him because they wanted another coach to do that. The firing was extremely wrong. Derek Shelton is in the same boat. Say the Pirates win this season and they fire Shelton because they don’t see him as their best choice to manage a team to win. That too would be extremely wrong.
- Teams and organizations should not use employment or peer pressure to enforce a unified team voice on political matters wherea unified team voice does not exist. See the Steelers on both the national Anthem and helmet decal situations. You do not force members of your team to accept your political beliefs. While I personally disagreed with Colin Kapernick using the anthem as a platform, I was ever bit as against having any team or organization forcing him to abide by their political positions.
I post this because there have been a couple of representations about me that I didn’t particularly appreciate.
