Great for those who would want that. Nice gesture.
Probably gives a little bit of heartburn to the coaches who, strictly thinking of business, would have preferred some of these players who might stay, to have moved on. They weren’t a great team before all this happened, after all. Not many will ever state this aloud (for understandable reasons), but keeping it real.
Do they have to use it at UVA?
a couple seniors who dont have a shot at nfl should put their names in the portal just to see if there are any takers..
This might be your worst opinion, and that is not something I say lightly.Sorry to be the bad guy, but I dont agree with this. What happened was tragic and those players lost out on playing their last 2 games but giving them an entire new season is going too far. Theoretically, you could have an 8th year senior now
Year 1 Injury
Year 2 Play
Year 3 Injury
Year 4 Play (covid year)
Year 5 Play
Year 6 Play
Year 7 Play (season cut short due to tragedy)
Year 8 (extra year for shorter season)
I can't see them running any players off under those circumstances.UVA team was bad. Does UVA want them back for an extra year?
I know you like to sprinkle discontent into threads to keep them going but you're ridiculous.Sorry to be the bad guy, but I dont agree with this. Exactly what I said. The coaches, of course, will have to nod approvingly and say all the right things, and even agree completely with this concept in the ‘human’ place in their minds, as we all do. But in the ‘strictly-business’ parts of their football coach minds (and wouldn’t those minds be interesting for scientists to dissect) … there are some players they are surely happy to have back, but probably not so much for some (likely many) others, particularly since it was not a good team in the first place.UVA team was bad. Does UVA want them back for an extra year?
Wasn’t a teammate also the murderer? I feel awful for them, but I don’t think they should be rewarded for their second athlete on athlete murder.Their teammates were murdered. Playing a game for an extra year isn’t going to hurt anybody.
Is it “flexing” to allow kids to gain a year of eligibility after a tragedy killed their teammates ?!?Without meaning to comment on the UVA tragedy, it's funny how the NCAA really has very little input in anything to do with major college football anymore, but they can still control stuff like this. Just flexing what little muscle they have left, I suppose.

I also can’t see plenty of them wanting to remain there to be honestI can't see them running any players off under those circumstances.

Let me ask you this: Why do you care? It doesn't harm Pitt in any way and it might help keep that program together under particularly difficult circumstances.Let me ask you this: if the tragedy occurred a few days after their final game, would they still deserve an extra year?

i dont think he gets an extra year of eligibility though.Wasn’t a teammate also the murderer?
yes i agree but maybe they want to go play somewhere else as a 5th/6th/7th year senior..I also can’t see plenty of them wanting to remain there to be honest
Like I said, I wasn't commenting on the tragedy. I was commenting on how little power/control the NCAA has with FBS football overall, and they choose to jump in on something like this just to show that they are still around. Is it “flexing” to allow kids to gain a year of eligibility after a tragedy killed their teammates ?!?
So you get to ask really stupid questions about something you really don't care about? Very SMF of you.I dont really. But answer my question. Thanks.
So you get to ask really stupid questions about something you really don't care about? Very SMF of you.
Fine. Sure. Give them the extra year. Doesn't affect Pitt or anyone else. Are you going to answer? Does anyone else want to answer? Come on, I dare you.
Fine. Sure. Give them the extra year. Doesn't affect Pitt or anyone else.
Now, can you explain why you care so much?
Yes. Who cares? Now ask an even dumber question. If the season has already been completed, why would just the seniors get the extra year? Or do you think all players should get the extra year if this tragedy happened after the season?
Yes. Who cares? Now ask an even dumber question.
I dont agree with this..... Shingles doesn't care..Sorry to be the bad guy, but I dont agree with this. What happened was tragic and those players lost out on playing their last 2 games but giving them an entire new season is going too far. Theoretically, you could have an 8th year senior now

I'm sure that this has happened before... uh, triple homicide of players from a single team committed by a former teammate during the season which meant the loss of two games due to cancellation.., don't think so.I'm sure that this has happened before, I mean a player being murdered. Going forward will every team with such a tragedy get an extra year?
True, but a single homicide of a women’s lax player committed by a men’s lax player has - at the same school.I'm sure that this has happened before... uh, triple homicide of players from a single team committed by a former teammate during the season which meant the loss of two games due to cancellation.., don't think so.

Theoretically, 20 or so players in a single institution where three of their teammates were gun downed could have an 8th year senior now ..... there I fixed it for you..
But what's the criteria for this extra year? What if a player dies of cancer during the season? Every year there are players who die in off-season accidents? Should the whole team get extra years?
