Amazingly honest in a Fox News interview done with Ryan Gaydos regarding his retirement announcement. Saban clearly states the overriding reason with this quote regarding the NIL environment and player attitudes, “ So I’m saying to myself, maybe this doesn’t work anymore, that the goals and aspirations are just different and that’s it’s all about how much money can I make as a college player?” Saban added. Players are asking for “assurances” they were going to play and “how much are you going to pay me”. Saban reflected back about how the goals were previously centered around building a players future and possible NFL career.

Fairly obvious Underwood wanted nothing to do with this new environment and took close to a 66% pay cut to get out. The move like Charley made was all about getting the hell out of college football.

The future of college football doesn’t look bright in my opinion.
