We gave him away for a minor league minor leaguer and a 7th...and won the trade hands down.

Anaheim eats all his money and GMJR walks away from a bad trade.

Nobody will bite on Jack Johnson. Cant blame the other teams.

Luckily JJ doesn't look as terrible alongside some of the emerging talent like Marino. Probably gets bought out next off-season though.

Yeah, I would’ve preferred to trade Jack Johnson, but no one is taking on him or that ridiculous contract.

Failing that, Erik Gudbranson was next in line for a lot of reasons, most notably his contract.

I still think Gudbranson has been way, way better than Johnson and it is not fair that they are typically thrown in the same bucket. However, at the end of the day, they had to clear up salary cap space as everyone gets healthy and someone had to go.

Just amazing they were able to trade him and not retain salary. Now the Pens have......a little.....wait for it.......................financial flexibility to make a real hockey trade if needed.

Yeah, the JJ signing made little sense then and looks worse now.

I assumed after riding themselves of this contract the Pens would have alot of Cap room but at the moment it is only 663K.
Edit...Seeing conflicting numbers.
14 million ? That can't be right ? Would love to know the real Cap space #.

Its 663k. Pricey players coming off IR is the reason why number is so low.
