Saw this on Twitter. What actor was perfectly cast in the role they played? I will start with what immediately comes obvious to me. Any of yinz my age or cognizant of all of this guys issues in the 80's, you would completely understand.

Robert Downey Jr in Less Than Zero. Art Imitating Life here.

I thought it was his documentary.

im kinda cheating but the FBI agent in goodfellas, ed McDonald, was perfect for the role of being an fbi agent talking Henry hill into going into protective custody.. Why was he the perfect actor for this role?

because he was the fbi agent that helped convince the real Henry hill into going into protective custody.

Sticking with that theme, Fred Thompson being the stern, conservative, no nonsense authoritarian figure always was perfect and helped explain his success in politics..

The bad dude in Cobra.. scariest bad guy I've ever seen. that face, damn that face.. he is in warehouse, deep voice, clanging two hatchets above his head, i actually was worried for Sylvester Stallones' safety when i watch that movie..

This guy, not Buschemi. Creepy ass character. Was in 8mm as a snuff porn producer, perfect role.

he’s a scumbag in every role and is perfect.

This is more recent movie, but Chris Evans as Ransom in Knives Out. (Spoiler alert)

The reason why I say this is because everyone recognizes him as Captain America, one of the most genuine and pure protagonists in recent superhero cinema.

As Knives Out progressed, his character appeared to be developing into someone that wanted to help Marta, even if it was to spite his family. His previous acting job made the end reveal that he was, in fact, the antagonist even more of a surprise because you subliminally thought he was good because Captain America is good.

Pretty much every casting Marvel has done, but especially RDJ as Tony Stark.

The best is when Holly was replacing Toby as HR and thought Kevin was retarded.

Yes Dwight told her that as a joke and she believed him. Just like in real life when the Vandy AD / search firm pal as a joke told Barnes that KS was a great coach and Barnes went with it. Except Dwight didn’t send Holly any quid pro quo cash so that she would give Kevin a $10millon golden parachute.

reminds me of the movie "clerks" back in 90s and every supporting character in that movie. Never spent too much time in New Jersey but those characters, how they talk, act, dress is exactly how i envisioned people in new jersey acting...

It's almost like they just went to new jersey, hung out in one town in a gas station/convenience store and asked those people if they want to be in a movie..

kind of merging two threads into one with the sports movie one but looking back at hoosiers, they really did a good job casting the high school kids. From Jimmy to Ollie and everyone in between..

All came off as good athletes but not unbelievably good where it was unrealistic. they all could dribble, shoot and looked like basketball players (except Ollie of course). they were probably in their early 20's but nothing to drastic that it was unbelievable. none were famous or did any movies that i know of, the one dude was in Bull durham but that was it.

i think bringing in a well known actor as a high school hoops player would have spoiled it and they did a really good job with casting those roles..

My all time "favorite" drug movie.

Ben Mendelsohn in TV series Bloodline.

His role was wonderfully written, but no one could have performed it better.

As a Hoosiers aficionado (I actually have shot hoops at the real Hoosier gym in Knightstown) yes, it was well cast. And every detail down to hair styles, clothes and cars were done well.

As for the players. Just some insight:
Jimmy Chitwood, The actor who played him actually never played HS basketball. He was cast when the director saw him at an open gym shooting hoops. But it is obvious he was an athlete, he was an All State golfer in HS.

Merle the point guard. Killed himself like 10 years ago.

Buddy, he did play college ball, but it was like at some NAIA school.

Rade Butcher, the kid who wanted to shoot, was the most accomplished, he played college BB at Division III DePauw (not DePaul). In typical NCAA fashion, because Butcher received money for the movie, he was suspended the first semester the next season.

Ollie actually played HS basketball.

But two of the cast never did. One was Chitwood, I think the other was the religious dude.

The only "actor" of this cast that I ever saw in any other movie was the guy who played Dennis Hopper's son, who had a small role in Platoon.

There are so many good choices.

Heath Ledger as Joker
Sam Rockwell in Moon
Ian Mckellan as Gandalf
Keanu Reeves in Matrix
Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins In Justified

platoon, yes, he was the one that Berringer said "Take the pain." Good call. He was also in Bull Durham, he got cut mid season.
