OT- Pirates Secure Winning record last night

Remember when that was the major deal?

Great job Bucs
Liriano was great last nit--Happ has been solid and Cole was great his last start---good news for the stretch run--hope it continues and maybe AJ can still catch lightning in a bottle---this is a fun, although sometimes frustrating team. Enjoy the ride

The Bucs finishing over .500 is becoming like Pitt hoops making the NCAA tournament. It should be expected given their current roster. It's now time to reach higher and actually do something in the playoffs. If they miss their window, it will be hugely disappointing.

Do you mind sharing what your precision prediction was for Pirates wins? I sure didn't see too many predicting nearly 100 wins after what seemed to be a lackluster offseason.

88 wins and wild-card berth. 100 wins means nothing if they dont make it at least to the NLCS. Remember the 2001 Mariners? They had 116 Regular season wins and lost in 5 games in the ALCS. Finishing above .500 and just making it to the playoffs was great and exciting 2 years ago. Now its time to make it farther. This is why I thought they should have done more in terms of trades. They have some great players in their farm system and could have gotten a legit 1B(Chris Davis) by giving a couple up.

That strategy is usually a recipe for failure. It sure as hell didn't work for the A's last year.

I absolutely hate postseason means everything attitude.

The Pirates main problem is that their path is currently blocked by St Louis. Hard to really blame the team when the finish with the 3rd best record in baseball, but get stuck in a do or die game because they have the lousy luck of being in the division as the #1 team.

(I'm still in favor of the current wild card format, BTW)
