OT: Pitbulls

Anyone have any opinions on them from experience? Going to meet with one at 2:00. Just don't want to come home to a house full of three dead animals (I have a GSD/Boxer mix and two cats) someday.

Google is producing mixed opinions.
They are mean bastards and could turn on you. Remember General Patton had one because it matched his temperament.

The character of a dog is nearly completely dependent upon the person who owns and is training them. I have seen way too many idiots with the most innocuous looking dog and the dog is a holy terror.

Mixed breed rescues are sweethearts. Most rescues, most, really appreciate the second chance and if the owners are caring and pay attention to them, they are fantastic and thrive. I have had a couple of dogs that had the roughest of starts, and they ended up being the best dogs. Of course they weren't Pits.

Oh....onto dog ownership. One thing I absolutely despise is those owners who think the breed of dog they get is like a watch. Like it is a rolex or some other trophy, they have to get "pure" breeds or some breed that is en vogue they have read or seen in a movie. That is no reason to get a dog. And those are likely the worst dog owners. They are just another trophy to show how "successful" they are.

I witnessed 2 pit bull attacks. One at a dog park and one behind a gas station in an apartment complex parking lot.
The dog park one was absolutely devastating. Shredded a poor little dog and the owner of mauled dog went into shock. It was one of the worst things as nobody could do anything and kids having to witness it.
The gas station one was odd. I was filling up my car and heard screaming. I ran over and a pit bull was fully locked in on the face of another dog. Nobody could stop it but finally dumping water on the dogs ended it.
Sorry, but I don’t like pit bulls, I don’t like being around them, and always left dog parks when one showed up. For every gentle loving one is another ready to kill something.
A pit got ahold of another dog in front of our house and the owner went to the ground with it and fought like he'll to get it off the other dog, fortunate it didn't get a full lock on it.

he didnt use my technique.

Never had one, but my mom’s Cairn Terrier was killed by her neighbor’s Pit Bull. It jumped the fence into my mom’s yard, very sad story.
