OT: Plane Crash

ATC recording shows the helicopter knew the plane was there and was instructed to come behind it.
Washington Reagan National terrifies me every time I fly in there. Crowded airspace with no margin for error on approach.
This is terrible.

I stay away from Washington Reagan(DCA) at all costs because it's just a scary airport. I will drive from Dulles or BWI before I fly into Reagan.

So what genius decides to run a “training sortee” in a congested air space at night

Yeah with my loyalty program mostly with United, if I have to fly through DC, I usually fly into and out of Dulles. With USAir gone, haven't been through Reagan. Usually because I can visit other customers to and fro, if I have to go to DC I drive. But flying in and out of Reagan is incredibly interesting because of all of the visuals you get. But also scary.

Didn't realize.....first US crash in 16 years. 45,000 flights a day, 16 years......that's pretty incredible.

I don't think she's blaming Trump, she's asking a very important question. If you knew the FAA Director was resigning you should have been looking at a succession plan or replacement during the transition period. Trump is back in the BIG CHAIR again - when you're the Prez these type of issues are magnified. So who's going to running point on the messaging and investigation?

Agree.

Sellers was totally out of line though. But that type of thing happens all the time from both sides of the aisle. No worse than things that happen on Fox News on a regular basis. Glad he apologized though. He needs to learn from his mistake.

Don't judge before you know. They probably do it all the time.

If you knew the FAA Director was resigning you should have been looking at a succession plan or replacement during the transition period...Not exactly sure what the hell that has to do with a Blackhawk helicopter crashing into an airliner...Me thinks one or two of the 35,000 employees of the FAA can handle the investigation and messaging. These would be the same folks who always assist whatever political hack is picked to lead the agency...

In fairness, CNN is making small strides. This is why Jim Acosta woke up this week without a job. Journalism used to be a real profession.
Sorry, but journalism is dead. We are now in the alternative fact era. MSNBC and Fox are basically unwatchable at this point.

They have to make some bigger strides to become more in line with America. If they don't, they'll be gone.

Maybe so. But finger pointing is a Trump specialty. He does it for EVERYTHING!
I hate "whataboutism", but it certainly applies here. Are you similarly outraged when every little thing that went wrong for he past 4 years was blamed on Biden on Fox News?

Like I said earlier - journalism is dead.

So tell me, where is America right now? Last time I checked, close to 50% of the voters and a majority of all citizens don't approve of MAGA.

Sorry dude, but there are plenty of folks that still love fringe crack pot "journalism" on the right and on the left. Fox News proves that on a daily basis.

Well if that's the case then grab one of those one or two from that 35,000 employee list and get that person ready to go - but just don't discount the messaging as MEH...there's a lot of legal exposure at stake here and maybe some regulatory issues that needs to be addressed.

Trump won the popular by 1.5%. Over 2 million votes. He won everything besides bigger cities. It was a very convincing win. The election was over by 9pm unless you were following legacy media and wanted to pretend it was going to be a dramatic finish. They couldn't even play it off that way.

2nd most total votes ever in 2024.

it wasn't close.

You might want to listen to the deputy FAAs response.

So what does the deputy of the FAA do? Is she useless ?

I could totally make a living catering to 48.5% of the population.

And just like that, Ron Johnson proves me right that dumb people make dumb mistakes all the time...

Am I outraged by him blaming Biden? Nope. Because it is par for the course. Dummies on both sides are going to say dumb things.

Did the plane fly into the helicopter, or did the helicopter fly into the plane?

If the later, they maybe they were instructed to take out a hijacked plane heading to the White House? Pretty sure that is what some pilots on 911 were preparing to do.

from the video it looks like the chopper flew into the plane.

I have no idea why this isn't being considered a terroristic threat.

Idk how common it is to have 3 soldiers (without a senior) in a Black Hawk Helicopter, at night, flying through a landing zone at the airport. I understand Reagan international is complete chaos, but something doesn't add up.

I have a theory that at least some airline crashes pre 911 were from hijackings and covered up. This is because there have been so few airliner crashes in the US since 911 and the main thing that has changed was security at the airports.

Also, I remember watched a documentary about DC area military pilots on 911 and they were totally prepared to take down that plane by crashing into it.

There definitely is something odd about his crash.

that's a very interesting theory .. and yeah I mean I never really believe anything that's reported right away. I think you gotta look at the facts that are there and make your own assumption. something seems off to me. who knows.

The election was over in July, and anyone who was really in the know and following it knew that. The mandate is there and over 60% of the population is in favor of what Trump is doing now. Like you said, the only people trying to pretend this election was a contest were in legacy media.

Wrong. But I hesitate to engage any further in political discussions on a sports message board. We do that on X.
