Can not wait. Technically our tickets aren't till Monday. Reviews so far are fantastic. The force is strong with this one!

Have mine solo tomorrow and taking the family friday. Reviews are all positive but as a huge jj fan, I expected this

Taking the whole family tomorrow (thurs) at 7pm. Bought my tickets already and hoping to pick them up at box office early tomorrow. Not sure what time I should arrive, tickets in hand, for the 7pm showing. Been a long time since I've gone to a sold out show. And not sure what it will be like going to a film that people have been waiting 33 years for.

Might be the biggest movie ever. If it does 1 billion by Jan 1, it will be well on its way.

We weren't willing to stand in the huge lines for seats so that's why we opted waiting till Monday for an assigned seat showing at the McCandless Cinemark. Good Luck - I'd get there early early.

I'm seeing it tomorrow night for the simple fact that too many people I know won't be able to keep their mouths shut about spoilers. (I won't be viewing the rest of this thread for that reason).

It will have the biggest opening ever, but won't be the biggest movie ever. There are just too many people who won't go to see it because they just don't like it, unlike Titanic and Avatar where people didn't know they didn't like it until afterwards.

I'm not going to go to the movie since I'm afraid of:
-furry animals driving spaceships
-big bald fat space monsters
-space sluts in bathing suits

Instead I think I'll watch reruns of the 2009 PITT vs. Cinny game.

JJ did a great job auditioning for SW when he ruined Star Trek, so he has that going for him. After reading spoiler-free reviews (I've already spoiled some big plot points for myself months ago) they pretty much reaffirm all the reasons I'm excited (as well as the things I'm not looking forward to).

All in all, I'm still looking forward to it and think it will be a good kickstart to the new era of SW films.

No, I'm going to see Mockingjay Part 2. I'm decidedly Star Trek>Star Wars by far... Live Long and Prosper.

Good God you're a nerd. Star Trek lololol
I've had my Star Wars tickets for a month now. Just got a Millennial Falcon shirt to wear too.
"Hey kid, don't get cocky!"

Can't wait.

In the spirit of full disclosure, we just pulled out the boxes holding our light sabers and put in some fresh batteries. Just doing our part. ;)

Daughter having tonsils removed tomorrow, so will have to wait.
Declared the 26th as the day we're going to see it.

I grew up with Star Wars. Right? You know the Star Wars bedding, the figourines, the cards, etc...

Have absolutely no desire, no interest now. It is just hype. I mean, really how good is anything Hollywood does to have to buy tickets to anymore? Not to be a Debbie Downer, but just think this is another Hollywood hype machine over inflating something from the past because they lack creativity and innovativeness to come up with new ideas and stories.

People are already lining up for the 7pm showing tomorrow at the theater I'm going to. That's absurd. Who has time for that nonsense?

This is such a lazy, "back in my day" type argument.

I have heard a few people reference lazy Hollywood and sequels. I get it...but there is a huge market of people who have been waiting a long time to learn what happens to Luke, Han and Leia. So give the people what they want. And to their credit, they are introducing a new generation of characters that will carry the franchise well into the future.

Speaking of which, Did Rhett ever get back together with Scarlett? Talk about a HUGE sequel that never happened.
But, back in that time, Hollywood hadn't discovered the $$$ of big time Serial movies....

I remember when my wife and I saw the original trailers for Star Wars in the theatre while watching the ORIGINAL Rocky movie! Seeing the Wookie and the crazy laser weapons, etc., we commented "Boy does this look stupid! Who will ever pay to see this?" LOL
Shows the kind of foresight that has made me such a success at picking stocks!

Recruits, respect your opinion, but you're a scrooge. There are many great films that come out every year. We all look for entertainment in different places - sports, music, literature, film, etc. And the argument can be made that by continuing this series at the same level as the original trilogy requires a great amount of creativity and innovation. It's not like any director can be plugged in and make it work.

It's not an argument. It is just how I feel. How the **** is that lazy?

Lazy was probably a poor choice of words. Dumb? Bad? Trying to think of a replacement. Though I really wonder what films you are seeing, as there is plenty of good material out there.

Sitting in a mostly empty theater right now with 5 college aged costumed geeks a few rows in front of me. I guess I am only slightly less of a geek because I am here. Show starts in two hours and there was no need to come this early. But I had no idea.

I will post a spoiler free review later.

Reminds me of the South Park episode where the main characters, dressed in Lord of the Rings costumes, are on a trek to return a porno flick to the video store. Along the way they encounter another group of kids who were dressed like and playing Harry Potter. They began making fun of them and calling them names.

Same here. I called my theater yesterday with a question about tickets and they said folks were already in line. They lied. I'm now here obscenely early. Oh well. Back to reading Dune.

Sitting in an almost packed theatre for over an hour waiting for the 8:30 show CST flanked by two Mexican women dressed as Princess Leia. Had I dressed as Han Solo with my looks I would have drawn too much attention from the females around. Reviews have been terrific that I'm pretty pumped for it.

A friend texted me that traffic around and in the Loews Waterfront was unbelievable. I have to hold off till Monday.

Slightly off topic, but are most theaters in the Pittsburgh area reserved seating or general admission? And how about seating? Have the power recliners caught on yet?

That's where I saw it. Traffic leaving at 9:30 wasn't bad. But the food line before the show took an hour. As I looked around and saw all the people, it was hard for me to imagine that this is going on in every theater in America.

She ran up north with one of General Sherman's men just like every sassy belle down there who'd never seen a real man until they showed up in blue by the tens of thousands.
"Oh no he di'in't!"

Early spoiler-free review has this getting an A from me. I have some complaints, but they are minor. Love the new cast. Will see again (and again and again).

This is so true. They can't really think of much new material. My daughter and I are going to see the final chapter of the "Hunger Games" series tonight. That is an exception of a more modern, series of original films that did succeed. But usually, it's true, they would rather stick with a name they know and hype it, I mean they are even remaking "Point Break" - the original of that SUCKED, so why remake it? - rather than take a risk on something original.

Weak-minded you are. Misguided are your thoughts on Star Wars....
YODA > SPOCK....ALL DAY/EVERY DAY

Sorry, Star Wars is for the weak minded. Star Trek was actually a vision of a possible future, Star Wars was more like a childish fantasy. No I don't mean running into Klingons and Vulcans and having a UN like Federation of Planets. I mean in the '60s, the future was full of possibilities, people truly expected that by the 2000s, we'd actually "Go where no man has gone before", we thought we had the WILL and desire to do it! Star Trek seemed like something reasonable... But then we got the political and cultural environment that we have now, where nobody wants to do anything other than cut back on anything we did before, so today "The Walking Dead" is so popular, why? Because while we used to believe someday we'd "Go where no man has gone before", now we're more likely to believe that we'll screw up things and create a virus and make us all zombies!

People did a lot of drugs in the 60s.

It's not that, people had balls, and took on big challenges and it wasn't only about money. Could you imagine if a President today challenged Russia to a race to the moon or Mars, like JFK did, then demanded money from Congress to do it?

I think that later they did do a sequel, but maybe like 50 years later.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108915/
Yeah, that was a lame mini series. I'm talking about a full blow sequel with original cast members and collaboration with Margaret Mitchell. The way they'd have milked it today.
Back in that time, sequels were rare, but they did happen occasionally. GWTW 2 would have been huge since there was a lot of room for the story to develop and resolve.
Probably best as it was, though, let people use their own imaginations........
