Brutal game. Wish i would have watched a replay of France-Argentina instead
You nailed it. That’s soccer.

DeGea the Spanish keeper made 1 save the entire tourney. Yet they are bounced because sometimes tactics can Trump talent.

This was like a two seed in the NCAA losing to a fifteen. But in soccer it’s much more likely to happen.

From the Cheap Seats; especially for the hosting nation. They usually tend to get just a little bit of Home Cooking.

There wasn't really home cooking as Spain never really pressed the issue until extra time. They had superior talent but were out coached tactically

Is there a more boring sport? Curling...maybe.
Only to those with limited exposure and therefore a limited understanding of it. Which is fine. To each their own.

I find all sports exciting at times and boring at times. I found soccer late in life...and would watch a soccer game between two teams I could care less about before I watch a baseball game or basketball game between two obscure teams. But, as with all sports, some games can just be boring.

They changed the rule. I believe it had to be clear and obvious. In this case he made an attempt at the ball. Hence no red.

That’s my interpretation anyway.

The rule change was to do away with what they considered "triple jeopardy", a penalty, a red card and a dismissal from the game that brings, plus the accompanying suspension for the next game that you get with a red card. Now you get the penalty and a yellow card so the punishment isn't as great. The only way you get the red card now is if they deem that you weren't trying to play the ball or the foul was deliberate and vicious.

Seems a good play they. That was a goal if he didn’t take him down.

Haven't Spanish club teams, and Spain in general, used tactics to defeat teams for a while now? Spain completed about 1,000 passes in the game and didn't press forward. They got what they deserved.

No. There is not a more boring sport.

Unbelievable, it shows what a dullard I am that I’m both a big soccer fan and really enjoy curling as well.

Attended a curling event a couple years ago and literally had no clue what was going on. Quite the difference watching with commentary on TV when compared to sitting at the arena. All the Canadian fans had their wireless headphones with the live feed while I just sat there somewhat clueless.

I stayed up to watch the Gold Medal match, USA vs heavily favored Sweden. I literally jumped out of my easy chair when Schuster made that incredible shot for 5 points in the 8th to pretty much decide the contest.

I'm surprised to hear you say this. I would have thought that had you really felt that way it would have came up one or two hundred times by now.
I just hate baseball so bad I'll never stop ripping it, because to me, it's offensive that it's popular and it takes up TV time where they could be showing a sport worth watching.

I just don’t get why people feel the need to express their dislike about a sport on a message board. No one cares. Baseball is America’s past time for a reason. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world for a reason. Both are great games for those who try to understand them.

Deal with it people. Watch what you want. Turn off what you dislike. Personally speaking, I don’t need 50 million Americans to jump on the soccer bandwagon. All I know is that my sporting life is more full because I have more viewing options to enjoy. Waking up on a Saturday and Sunday morning with breakfast and a coffee and watching Premier League Soccer is a cool thing.

For you Paul, I know you’re giving soccer a chance. Not all games are exciting. As a matter of fact, many can be boring, especially given the most Americans have no rooting interest. But the more you watch, the more you understand and the more you’ll begin to enjoy it. And what can be wrong with enjoying one more sport? I know you get what I’m saying.

I made a joke about soccer , fully explained it as a joke and even presented the source but this guy was compelled to come back with a personal insult.

For sure giving soccer a chance....at the WC and EPL level it’s pretty good to watch...actually and never thought that a couple years ago.

But
Since he was making such a big deal out of baseball...my favorite sport, I posted here.

Yeah. Soccer people like to say “yeah but baseball...” , and non soccer people thump their chest with bravado saying there’s no other sport more boring than soccer. Thanks everyone...your opinion matters. Lol.

Not meant to knock MLB as the brand is a good one. But there’s a reason why the NFL and EPL are the two biggest brands in the world. Obviously the NBA is a popular one too. I’m also a big NHL fan...but that’s one that has a lot of work to do.

Baseball is such total crap, that if it's on 10000 channels I'd prefer it not be on any of them just on principle.

Maybe you should start protesting outside television studios or baseball stadiums or something. You could start a national movement to get baseball banned from all facets of American life! Wouldn't that be special!

You're really weird.
I think it's weird that people think baseball is "exciting", I just think it's one of those "emperor has no clothes" things, people are afraid to come out of the closet and admit baseball is boring crap because they're afraid they'll be called un-American.

These guys were definitely not afraid to come out of the closet and discuss the relative merits of baseball.
