OT: Ryan Leaf is funny...

To answer Ryan Leafs question: Vince Young. I thought he’d revolutionize the game. Guess not.

I’d lean towards yes. I guess he had some mental issues. Those years he had at Texas, and that game vs USC, I thought he was a sure thing.
He reminded me a lot of Kordell Stewart. Seemed like the perfect QB for the 21st century; mobile, big body, strong arm. Just made some boneheaded decisions at times. But I did think he was the “next big thing” after his time at Texas and even after his rookie season. Too bad he was plagued by injured and inconsistent play.

I’ll never forget living in San Diego and being at an Aztecs hoops game in 2007 and during a timeout it was rather quiet then hearing, “You’re not welcome here!!!!” being hurled toward a walking Ryan Leaf.

Peter warrick, Curtis Enis, Lawrence Phillips,

Warrick is a real good one, I had multiple people telling me he was an absolute can’t miss.

Im claiming Reggie Bush, who had an ok career but was nothing like most people thought he’d become. I’ll never forget telling a coworker and huge USC homer that he’d be nothing more than another Eric Metcalf in the NFL and the guy literally wanted to fight me.

I’ll give you another bungled pick by the Cincy Bungals - Akili Smith

David Klingler wants some of that as well.

Will add Joey Harrington also, met him once and you could tell the guy thought he should still be playing and the whole league had made a big mistake by not giving him another shot.

Antonio Bryant had a devent career but I thought he was going to be great. I was also surprised Curvin Richards wasn't a better pro.

Antonio Bryant was a damned good NFL receiver that seemed to have some attitude issues and ended up out of the league earlier than he should have been.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but seem to remember Richards having fumbling issues that hastened his exit from the Cowboys.

locally, i thought Jarvis Jones would have been a good one on the steelers scheme.. Actually liked that RB from ga tech too, the one that got fat and took himself out of the game every time he ran the ball.

Yeah that guy was living the good life way too much. He would have had a solid career as a backup had he not blown up.

I see Kijana Carter and Curtis Enis ... I was going to say all PSU running backs post Franco. Jury is still out on Barkley, but he has been disappointing so far. MIles Sanders has been decent. Larry Johnson had some good years but lots of legal troubles.

im embarrassed to say this but in my youth, i actually kind of liked DJ dozier. i didnt say it out loud because i would have been beaten up by my older brothers. still hated psu of course but i just remember watching a few games and he looked really good..

I always thought Blair Thomas sucked but i was a bit older and my hatred for them was strong then.. Enis not working out just doesnt make sense. he was perfect size in nfl, like 235 with good speed. that one really shocked me.

Tim Worley and Tom Ricketts. I thought the Steelers hit the jackpot with those two first rounders.
Worley was just starting to get it going when a nagging knee injury and drugs took him down (mostly the drugs). Those Steeler teams of the late 80's were so close to being great.

I knew some of the Ricketts clan. They are all massive PSU degenerates. Can't believe one of them ended up at Pitt. Tom started off good but they told me a pinched nerve did him in.

Worley really came on at the end of his rookie season but never had a huge rushing game, likely because he and Hoge split carries. His TD run versus the Jets in 1989 showed his talents and he looked even bigger and cooler with those shoulder pads.

Too bad the prior draft Lorenzo White was picked instead of Aaron Jones. The Steelers then may have drafted Rison with the Worley pick. The Ricketts pick bothered me for years as Steve Wisniewski would have been the quintessential Steeler and an all-time great for the Black and Gold.

Noll cost himself some regular season and playoff wins his final two years with some terrible round one picks (Jones, Worley, Ricketts, Richardson) and the Joe Walton hire.
