OT- SCF- Game #2 ..... Pens vs Nashville .......

BIG game ...... but they are all BIG now.

Pens were lucky to win Game #1 as they were clearly outplayed...... need to play better or we will likely lose tonight.

Pens need to tweak their breakout system to get pucks out of our zone more cleanly and with speed through the neutral zone.

Need to forecheck better with speed in the offensive zone and keep the puck behind their defense and away from Rinne on the dump ins as he plays the puck well and can get their breakout going quickly.

Need more offensive zone time and obviously more shots on goal (come on Kessel) with traffic in front of the net ..... Rinne is a very good goalie so need to make it difficult for him to see the shots and look for deflections and rebounds.

No dumb penalties as the Nashville Power Play scored 2 goals in the 1st game and looked pretty good.

Not sure if there will be any personnel changes for the Pens tonight but we may see some line changes.

5 on 5 and Nashville scores and leads 1-0 .... Maatta played it badly .... he played the puck instead of taking the body of the Nashville player ..... if he takes the body, the player is separated from the puck and can't get back to it to score ..... I also thought Murray didn't play it very well .... when the puck carrier came from the side of the crease across the front of the crease, he could have skated out from the post and poke checked it off the puck carriers stick.... he let him get across the crease and was down and out by that time.

IMO in the beginning of the game/games when its 0-0 the PENS are lets skate around its a nice night.

We've seen two guys throw punches to someone's head right in front of the ref and nothing called. We've seen an obvious boarding penalty that you could argue should have been a major penalty and nothing called. We've seen Malkin called for a penalty for, I don't know, maybe yelling BOO! really loudly and scaring a player so he fell over. We saw Sheary crosschecked in the back two times right in front of the ref, and he wasn't going to call anything until the guy crosschecked him a third and fourth time in rapid succession. And they consistently let too much crap go on after the whistle. Starting sending guys off for doing that crap and it will stop immediately.

Has to be frustrating for Nashville (and their fans) that their team has greatly outplayed the Pens, but their goaltending has let them down. That's four straight periods, yet they've barely held one lead. Short of the Penguins actually playing better, hopefully at least that situation continues.

I know this isnt true but its seems like the refs "favor" err in "favor" of the underdog especially when the previous Stantley Cup Champs the PENS play.

If I remember correctly I believe the SENS got some " free passes" while the refs rode the PENS hard.

But Sullivan said it correctly we can only worry about what we can control and we cant control the refs!

Indeed, though it is going to be difficult to beat the Pens in two straight games (no matter what Keith Jones says), let alone 4 out of 5. Hopefully the Pens can carry over from the 3rd period.

The media headline that we stole the game was ridiculous. They dominated period one, two was a wash, and we crushed them in three. The Pens scoring chances were generally better and they still missed a few open nets. Murray outplaying Rinne is no surprise.
