I post this on the football board because I think there are football implications to this. Auburn and Alabama are 1 and 2. Florida and Tennessee are 4 and 5. This year's SEC basketball league will probably end up being the greatest NCAA sports league ever.

There is some discussion as to whether the SEC's dominance in football may be over. I dont know if that's true or not but I dont think its helping SEC football that those athletic departments are making massive investments in basketball.

Florida beat two of them. They should get 3 number 1 seeds. Duke did beat Auburn otherwise thry likely get all 4 number 1s.

With the way Auburn’s football team has fared in recent years, Bruce Pearl is really close to turning them into a basketball school…

On a side note, they have some very good teams, but I can’t get myself to watch a full game the way I can a Big East game. Perhaps it’s nostalgia talking, but the SEC feels very NBA-lite to me with its style of play.

All polls, regardless of the sport, are useless opinions of the biased people who were involved in the voting process.

I don't see how having a good basketball program precludes you from also being great at football. From 2005-2008, Florida won two national championships in both basketball and football.

Their dominance in football isn't over, per se. NIL just spreads the talent around a little more (not much more - like, maybe 20 teams matter now instead of only 10). Not like they're not still loaded.

#1 Auburn playing #2 Alabama right now. This isn't right. The ACC needs to do something. They can't cede basketball to the SEC. Coach K and Pitino have both recently said that the ACC & Big East should merge....though I'd only take Nova, UConn, SJU, and Gtown. That's Philly, DC, NYC, and New England. Might be good for ACCN.
