OT: Sometimes it's embarrassing to be a Pitt alum.

I took my scooter out real late when I was in high school, met a girl a block from her house.. Thought it would be romantic to walk her home but the scooter was too heavy to push so I turned it on, was gonna give it just enough throttle to walk with it but accidentally gave it too much and It lost control and hit her leg, damn near snapped her knee backwards..

Yeah...I think we've all done something stupid to (try) to impress a girl.
I would relate something here but I've spend decades trying to forget.
Why don't women do these stupid things? Is it because they have what we want?

Apparently a Pitt student climbed on a roof top by Breugger's in Oakland and tried to jump from roof to roof to impress his girlfriend and didn't make it and got wedged between buildings. Remember the days when just buying a girl a drink at Zelda's could get you laid? It must be tough to be a millennial.

Help me understand why this is embarrassing for you? We as alumni can't be held accountable or be associated with what random Pitt students do unless we condone the action or influenced or allowed it to occur. If this is the worst and stupidest thing a Pitt student does, we should all be happy.

Guys. Seriously? Do any of you understand sarcasm? I'm not actually embarrassed to be a Pitt alum because a moron tried to jump between roofs to impress a girl. I might be embarrassed to be a Pitt alum because none of you have a sense of humor, though.

Huh??

Does this have anything to do with being a Pitt alumni? I dont get the title. I thought you were going to say something about forbes avenue or something.

I would think something equally as dumb happens every day on some campus.

The thing that amuses me is how f-ed up do you have to be to not be able to make the jump from one building to the next when the distance between the two buildings was something along the lines of 18 inches? Jeebus, that isn't even a large step, let alone a jump.

If this incident causes you embarrassment as a PITT alum, I could only imagine what the atrocities at Penn State would have done for your psyche. Kids do silly things. Like others have mentioned, the majority of us have all said the famous words "check this out..." and likely had an unexpected outcome.

Not really...... Kid was out to impress a girl......I am sure we have all been there in one way or another.
I'll go a step further.....do we men ever stop? Think about it for a minute guys. Women have to look at us and laugh to themselves. We spend 9 months incubating and then fight like Hell to crawl outta there.
After we hit puberty we spend most of the rest of our lives trying to get back in. It is senseless but unless you are gay or dead, we all do it. I'm no exception. Maybe gay guys are successful because they don't have to act like fools.

Henceforth, the guy's gonna be known on campus as "the guy who got stuck...."

He would've been better off getting drinking a lot of tequila & getting some over-the-top tattoo.

I didn't understand why the PG mentioned in the story that he is the son of a PG managing editor. That had nothing to do with the story, and embarrassing for the dad. It was as if the writer had a vendetta against the dad. Weird.
