OT St. Johns is terrible, just terrible

Hey, they were 3-0 going into this game with a win over Rutgers.

Durand, is a starter and had 15 against UMBC.

Good for them. One of the most overhyped programs I remember in recent times. Hopefully some recruits start to notice and back out.

He is shooting 27% from 3 point range. That is awful for a "shooter". You had better be in the 40% range to be considered a good shooter.

Yes, they are terrible. First of all, they lost an exhibition game to St. Thomas Aquinas (a Div 11 school ) by 32. points. Their 3-0 start was against Wagner, UMBC, and a close one against Rutgers. After I saw the 32 pt. loss in the paper, I made it a point to watch them on tv. I've seen them twice now and they are AWFUL.
Johnson shows occasional flashes and hits an occasional 3ptr., but that's about it.
Mullin is a NYC legend, and an even bigger St. John's legend, but he literally has marginal Div1 talent with which to work. Incidentally, Slice is right there on the bench next to Mullin as an assistant. I have no idea what
kind of coach Mullin is, but he and Slice better get some players. This year is going to be an all time low for
the Redmen...oops...Red Storm, LOL. BTW, in NY they're more commonly known as "The Johnnies'"

Durand had 10 points on 2-8 shooting today. They got ripped by Purdue.

I watched them against Rutgers for a few minutes and couldn't take much of it. Two awful teams. Durand came into the game and gave up two baskets and missed a shot in about 20 seconds.

FWIW, people who were around practices and the program last year were excited about Durand. He was looking pretty good during his time off.

He hasn't been good at STJ, but I hate just killing a guy that's struggling after leaving Pitt. Pitt is a pretty good place to develop and be put in a strong position to succeed offensively.

Leaving is one thing. The fact that he got injured, Pitt stuck with him, then he got suspended, stayed on for another year then bolted is not the best way to go about it.

Oh for sure, I understand the frustration, I just think it's unfair to take his performances at STJ and assume that he's no great loss because of them. Or, if he plays well, use it as some sort of referendum on Pitt.

He was a guy who had issues here. Regardless of how his time at STJ winds up, I think he would have been an asset. I wouldn't have said that for John Johnson, Khem Birch*, or JJ Moore.

*Birch was a pretty good college player, but he cost us Jaylen Bond, who I think would have been a tremendous fit. If we had Bond over Birch I think we are in better shape.

In the St. Johns - Vandy game former possible Pitt transfer and local guy Nolan Cressler had 10 points on 4-7 from the field, 2-4 from three. They just showed him making a three in the highlights on ESPN2 before the North Carolina - Northwestern game started.

Who was it that said he'd dominate? I've ruled out SMf. Was it ksquared?
