the other day I posted the Deion Sanders tweet about the elephant in the steeler Room.

Now there’s this. What are people alluding to?

I’m sure a lot of the “reporters” are deathly afraid of losing access. There were lots of accusations about stories about Ben being squashed back in the day. Then KDKA and Pompeani did that fluff piece.

The Steelers are a behemoth and butter lots of people’s bread in and around this city.

Ben being squashed? Why does that mean??

And I don’t know what Steigy is worried about. He doesn’t have access anymore and doesn’t care to. He’s nothing more than a twitter personality who has his own radio show that discusses current events.

I should have proofread - that sentence wasn’t all that clear. What I was trying to say is there were stories about him that could have been reported but due to pressure from the team the stories never saw the light of day. I have been told - 1st hand from people who had incidents or contact with him - what an absolute and utter POS he was. I suspect he still is but I don’t know.

And you’re correct about Steigy - I was just speaking generally about those who do have access.

I made a comment several weeks ago about Tomlin being joined at the hip with Ben and it could be both good and bad for Tomlin. I suspect a lot of people didn’t understand what I was trying to say. But the bottom line is that Ben has always been a jerk and I really don’t think Tomlin is. But for all the benefits that Tomlin has had for having a HoF franchise QB for his entire tenure, he’s also having to coach a guy he can never ultimately win with. When all the strong personalities retired and Ben became the leader of the locker room, the entire franchise took steps in the wrong direction. It’s one of the reasons why you can never say Tomlin is a great coach. A great coach would find a way to rise above the situation and coach the team to playoff wins. A good coach will conform and win games, but never accomplish anything of significance. A bad coach would have allowed things to fall apart completely.

Not sure about the jerk part but it's been reported and talked about that Ben isn't a good leader and when others left or retired he and others didn't step up. It wasn't that he was a bad person. It was more like he wanted to be buddies and have fun instead of being a disciplined leader. He's also supposedly been distant with younger players recently.

It might be a good time to blow the whole thing up and rebuild.

Tomlin is not joined at the hip with Ben. As I said the other day Tomlin doesn't have the authority to discipline Ben or tell him anything. This might have been what is like for Tomlin's entire tenure, but it definitely has been like that since 2011. Colbert is in charge of personnel, Ben does what he wants when he wants, and basically only answers to Pittsburgh ownership. What Brown said about Ben having an ownership mindset was right on the money, he has more pull on that roster than Tomlin does and Colbert confirmed it with his comments.

I personally think Tomlin's only role is to motivate the other players on the roster but unlike Belichick I don't think he has final say on what players are on the roster.

That's how franchise QB's act.

Also, the Steelers have had some bad luck with Shazier, and two of their best players going AWOL or nuts. Plus the kicker completely losing his touch.

They have some good young talent. The problem is, Roethlesberger gets that gunslinger mentality and more often than not, throws a pick in a crucial situation.

The backside of the defense has been pretty bad. Hopefully Edmunds comes on and they find another corner. The D line is OK, LB'er needs help.

Offense, hopefully Washington steps up and Conner stays healthy and they get him some help. They're not too bad on offense.
Kicker needs to get his head out of his arse. They'll compete next year.

Lots of HC's in the NFL have these kinds of problems. Too many prima donna's making more $ than the HC. How do you bench someone making $14 million or so a year??
This isn't Lombardi's NFL! Or even Noll's!

Well Ben, Tomlin, ARII, and Colbert have all already been blamed for AB, so who else is there?

I dont understand the tweet. Basically the only thing the media wont do is out someone i.e. report that someone is gay. They discuss racism everyday so if that is the elephant it makes zero sense for them to cover it up.

When I say joined at the hip, I meant that their careers are intertwined. Tomlins success is based on Bens. And if the Steelers never win again with Ben, that’s how Tomlin will always be judged. Unless his career here outlives Bens. At which time, we will learn a bit more about Tomlin the coach.

I don't see Brady or Brees acting like this. Rodgers definitely seems like a brother to Ben.

Just seems to me that Tomlin really has very little power on that team. Bradshaw made that comment about not knowing what Tomlin does, because he just stands on the sidelines and doesnt really say a whole lot during games. But it goes deeper than that. It is just very strange.

Ben could have had him fired years ago and hasn't, so there is that.

I assume if this scandal that the media is currently covering up is as big as these fools are saying it is then that is how many of these guys will be remembered.

I know there is an effort out there in the national media to try and blame ABs enormous look at me ego trips on Ben. Ben called him out a few times but it is no coincidence that ABs over the top tantrums come in the same year that Juju became another go to guy taking some of the praise away from his majesty AB. And it is no coincidence that the final blowup cam just after the Steelers voted Juju team MVP.

There are other reasons why this stuff got out of hand. Bell deciding 4 years at 50 to 60 million wasn't enough because not enough was guaranteed. Some in the media put this on the Steelers for not giving him what he wanted. That's bull too.

The Steelers will be a better TEAM next year. Less talented but a better TEAM. It's called addition by subtraction.

Brett Favre has 1 Super Bowl ring and treated Green Bay like his personal video game.
Eli Manning has twice as many rings as Favre.
Gunslinger? No.
Selfish? Yes.

Well they had better be prepared for a vastly improved Cleveland and improved Cincinnati.

No one has ever heard Bouchet being critical of Ben over the last 5-6 years.

Colbert during his news conference a few days ago that they need a few more leaders on the team and that Ben can’t be the only leader. To that statement I laughed out loud.

None of these tools are ever critical of Ben. I can’t wait for that guy to get old and retire. Don’t care about the Steelers record post Ben.

Good post- right on

If the Steelers didn't have Ben they'd be the Browns.
If the Browns had Ben they'd be the Steelers.

Ben is a powerful talented football player who can make or break a football team.

It's amazing that some posters, the usual board cockroaches, wish or can't wait for bad news to get published.

These are the same loser cockroaches, in other threads, who dislike successful, conservative, rich white guys.
That's why you dislike me as well.lol I love it!

Guess what losers, we won, Ben won, and you lost!

Winners in life support, and build up others, while losers waste all their time trying to get even and tear down winners because they didn't work hard enough to be successful.

I’d say it has more to do with you having way too high an opinion of yourself. Plenty of rich libs do too I’m sure. Of all races.

Has nothing to do with the color of your skin, your bank account or your political leanings.

I’d venture a guess there are some others in your category. But they don’t feel the need to brag about themselves regularly so I don’t know who they are. So that probably has a lot to do with it too. Must be tough to have it so good yet be so insecure.

Surprised you didn’t figure out a way to crowbar in a mention of your younger wife.

It's so easy as the loser cockroaches come out of the woodwork.

Ben is no longer a Top 5 type QB and hasn’t been the last couple years. He more in the 10-12 range now, and he’s had amongst the best weapons on offense and one of the best offensive lines in the league.

Most of these are just playing characters on here. Probably many are just one guy. There's a lot of commonality to some of the snideness of a bunch of posters. Not worth getting outraged over. It's sad our teams are so uninteresting that our boards are dominated by this kind of thing. Even during the seasons. But sometimes the little manufactured spats among the "different" posters are more interesting than our .500 teams and which 2 star guy has us on his list with Bowling Green and ODU.

No outrage here at all. I will fully admit I’d probably be better off just shutting the hell up at times though haha. But nothing manufactured on my end.

Ben and most other people could less what you think.
As Ben said last season I'll decide if I come back year to year.

Guess what he's at the end of a great career.
He's rich, can you say that, are you in the 10-12 range in your field?

What on earth does any of that have to do with how good a QB he is or isn’t right now?
