OT: top recruit not faxing LOI, just going to show up for class..

can you imagine what its going to be like 15 years from now.
it wasn't too long ago that we thought "picking the hat" was over the top. then the RB from Va tech pulled the tee shirt reveal. that is nothing to what these kids do now. Hey, if you are gonna be obnoxious about it then go hardcore..

There is a big difference between a recruit enjoying the process and one that constantly draws attention to himself by being a drama queen.

You have to think of where they are getting thier advice from.

I'd like to see a kid name his top 3 and then go sky diving and whatever stadium he lands in, that is his choice. so you'd have media at all 3 venues, fans, all looking up in the sky.. of course you'd have to avoid going to a dome school. then when he lands, that's his choice but to take it a step further, he lands in one stadium, fans and media cheer, then he steps up to the podium only to reveal that he is indeed going to another school.. drops mic and walks off.

that would be what I'd do..

Is he just going to arbitrarily go into the first classroom he sees?
lol, I don't know. probably just walk into the HC office and ask if they can get him some advisor to hurry up and sign him up for some freshman classes.. He is the #1 RB in nation, they would oblige. it's not like you or I, having that Carbon copy pink slip with us, hoping the teacher can sign off on it because the class is full.. (if you don't know what im talking about, that's what you had to do back in the 90s when a class was full).

Actually you have to think about who they are doing it for. They know the game, how every Tom, Dick, and Steel follow their every move and psychoanalyze their every word (and tweet) and try to figure out if it means this 17 year old is going to attend their favorite school or not.

If people didn't care, didn't give them the attention, then it wouldn't happen. These are kids, let them have their fun no matter how they choose to have it. It's not hurting anyone, except the butthurt of the fans when the kid doesn't pick their favorite school. If people stopped paying attention, it wouldn't happen, at least quite as much.

But some people live and die by the actions of 16-17-18 year old boys, so it's not going to stop.

Fabulous. I suppose the next step in the recruiting evolution is that the top recruit won't actually play college football....they'll show up and just tweet about their experiences while hanging out with the Kardashians.

I wouldn't care how they do it , if the top recruits start picking Pitt, and pull hats , tee shirts , show up for class first day , whatever , I'm more worried about the ones who pick Pitt over Temple, Tulane, Tulsa , Ohio bobcats, to be honest. We worry about the dumbest things on this board and not what REALLY matters

What really matters to me is my families well being and the well being of everyone else. On here I talk about Pitt football and other topics that while they may provide joy, do not really matter to my or families well being. So you are correct, we do not talk about what REALLY Matters.

I'd create an app. Get a sh*tton of downloads. Run some ads and then make my reveal via the app. Announcing that the finalists are schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Bama and a few others with large rabid fanbasees should be good for a decent chunk of spending money.

Actually if you are a top recruit that pretty much any school in the country would take you should NEVER sign a letter of intent. You don't need to sign one to be eligible to play, and signing one signs away some of your rights. You sign with a school and the coach you want to play for leaves and goes elsewhere? Sucks to be you. You sign with a school and they get put on probation? Sucks to be you. All the letter of intent does is ensure you a one year scholarship, and you are going to get that anyway without signing one if you are good enough.

Yep. Although, this really applies to the kids who aren't enrolling until the Summer/Fall. Once you enroll, it is the same thing.

Well yes I agree, I'm talking about after those things , hope that's self explanatory, this is second fiddle to family

I wouldn't sign a LOI either if I could get away with it. I mean, you've got to be pretty good to pull it off but you can enroll in as many schools as you want and take longer to decide. But the LOI binds you the second it's received regardless of transfers or coaching changes or whatever else could go wrong.
