OT: Trading AB would only cost Steelers 6.5 million.

Steelers are picking at 20. I would deal him in a second if I could get a 1st round pick higher than what they have. That would give them 2 picks in the top 20 to go after a WR and defensive help.

Fitz is a free agent. I wonder if he'd play here for a reduced rate to try and win a SB?

Fitz is nearing the end. He isn’t what he once was. The Steelers need someone on the way up not way down.

He'd be OK as a possession receiver and wouldn't cost much. I'm not sure he'd ever come here. But I do like the idea of dealing AB IF they can get quality picks back.

They should trade Tomin. What a loser!
He used a bunch of buzz words, told some whoppers, and was as evasive as possible.
The Fan is trashing Tomlin right now!

Mike, Mike, MIke everyone on the planet ( it's being reported right now 2:50pm on The Fan), knows
that AB wasn't injured he was just plain mad, left practice to never show up again.

There was a tiff on Wed between Ben and AB. So Mike , Mike, MIke that's two whoppers you just told on at your press conference. Whoppers are lies!

Everyone knows there was a tiff between Ben and AB because Ben said they talked it out. Ben confirmed there some kind of problem with AB on Wednesday, he called AB Thursday morning and Ben thought everything had been cleared up?? Why would Ben call AB on Thursday morning to patch things up if nothing happened.

If something did happen, and it did, and you Mike, Mike, Mike the HC, didn't know about the tiff you should be fired for being out of touch with the team. Or sleeping in your office??
If something did happen and you lied during the press conference you should be fired for telling a lie! Be honest how hard is that Mike, Mike, Mike.

You already told a big whopper a few weeks ago about the Oakland X Ray machine. Noone is buying your story Mike, Mike, Mike.

Tomlin and Rooney's the entire sporting world is laughing at you as individuals and the Steelers. It's a clown show!

It wouldn’t be the first time a team traded their coach for draft picks. Jon Gruden comes to mind.

Rooney has to be perturbed at what’s going on. His franchise is being laughed at. He will have to do something Here is what will happen next:

- Rooney will tell Colbert to trade Brown. Period.

- He will then tell Tomlin to fire Butler and Porter. In addition he will tell him that he is to hire someone to help with challenges and time outs.

- He will inform Colbert, that Bell will not be part of the team next year under any circumstances. Do not attempt to tag him.

- He will have another talk with Roethlisberger and tell him to shut up, stop calling out teammates in interviews and be a leader. Meaning, don’t skip out on off season practices so you can go on a family vacation.

Anything beyond this will not happen...

Great summary of Steelers salary cap situation and the AB ramifications.

I think they have to unload this guy. What is happening now is his massive, over inflated ego can't take Juju getting anywhere near the pub and notoriety that he is getting now. He doesn't understand team play because AB is for AB and that's it. This team has to take advantage of the extra coverage AB gets by throwing to other receivers and AB can't accept that. And it's no coincidence that this latest explosion took place after Juju was voted team MVP.

The man has become a cancer and the time to cut him loose is during the March 13 trading period. Get the best draft package you can. Use the cap space created to fill some needs like ILB and Corner, and move on thru the draft.

No way 49er's give up their pick for Brown. I'd trade Brown and 3rd for their #2 overall.

Turn and trade the #2 overall down to about 7 and draft Devin White.
Stick at 20 and take CB Deandre Baker or S Deionte Thompson.

Hopefully add an extra #1 or #2 next year for trading down.

JuJu will be worse in 5 years. He already is an attention hog without money. Immagine what he's going to be like after he's paid?

Keep drafting wr's EVERY YEAR in the first 3 rounds and move out the old guys.

You have a one year window to win the Super Bowl. Do something right now. After next year it gets ugly post Big Ben.

Or you get the next Patrick Mahomes or Jared Goff. There are a lot of guys who can sling the ball these days, not that they grow on trees either.

The target team to trade with is Oakland. They have three No. 1 picks (4, 25, 27). You’re not getting the number 4 pick for Brown.

Therefore, I would ask for both #25 and #27. If they balk at that, then I would go with the #25 pick and their second round pick (#35) along with a 4th round pick (#99). That should get it done.

Considering the value of an elite QB, I do wonder if anyone at footballoutsiders et al. has run the math on pulling a Steve Walsh/Troy Aikman and trying to trade for two high draft picks to take two QBs. Would be fun for the media at least.

The Steelers certainly don't need a top 10 pick. It seems better to take more chances at players who are slightly less hyped, and the Steelers can get more of those chances if they want. They really need to work on that defense.

Agreed, they need starters at OLB, ILB, CB, S, and WR, if they trade Brown. If you move him for a top 10, you need to sell that pick back and pick up some more. Hopefully Haskins would slide a bit due to the DL help in this draft, and someone would get desperate to move up to 10 (maybe the Dolphins or Skins?)

They need to maximize the Brown trade as much as possible. They need to get as many top 100 picks as the can for him. If they could get Oakland to trade their #25, #35 and #99 for Brown, I’d take that in a heartbeat. That would give the Steelers 6 picks in the top 100

1 #20 Steelers

1 #25 Oakland

2 #35 Oakland

2 #52 Steelers

3 #83 Steelers

4 #99 Oakland

Rooneys regrets:

Steelers blew home field for the playoffs. Not that they missed the playoffs themselves, but that they missed out HOME playoff game(s). Because of the windfall the Rooneys get from extra games, esp playoff games. And the windfall the city and county get from it, which in turn gives the Rooneys more leverage with the govt when the Steelers want services, development rights etc.

Even so, it might be tempered because he wouldn't have to pay playoff bonuses. Maybe he even comes out ahead, actually. Though i doubt the latter.

Besides that ... he couldn't care less about this silly noise

I wouldn’t trade him for just one first, unless it was a top 5 pick.

If Brown wasn't a clown shoe and now being labeled as a cancer, that might be possible.

The problem with teams picking that high is they need a lot of help. A team that trades for Brown needs to believe they are a player or two away from making noise. Teams like Titans, Packers, and Dolphins come to mind.

6.5 Is that all ?
Bambi is rolling in his grave !

What a world we live in these days when it would ONLY cost the team 6.5 mil ! Lol . But i'm an older fart around here i guess. So....

Edit: Lance Allworth is 78 and still kicking . Sorry Lance .
It's not our money so it's easy to discuss. If you have to eat 6.5 in cap money this will be the time to do it. The money they didn't have to pay Leveon plus the salary they won't have to pay AB makes that hit pretty easy to absorb.

Haskins appears to be the best of the bunch in this draft class.
The Steelers next QB is already on the roster. If it isn't Mason Rudolph it will be Josh Dobbs. Plus Ben won't be going anywhere for another 3 to 4 years.

Oh no I agree totally and it is a much less painful hit . But . Like Said .
The times we now live in are pretty wild . Salary wise .

So.....

Nobody knows how many Bus Helmet Cakes you can buy for 6.5 mil???

Nobody?

Does anyone know for sure what it is? I have seen conflicting reports, it is almost like the Lev Bell franchise tag thing. Why are these rules so complex? And I don't get it, why when you trade a guy, you have to absorb his entire salary? That doesn't make sense. I have never seen such convoluted rules regarding trades than in the NFL. This whole CBA is just horrible.

It is why there will be a strike I believe........unless the NFL allows one thing.

You don’t absorb any of his future salary, you’re just absorbing the signing bonus you had already paid him. While he’s still playing for you, that signing bonus for salary cap purposes gets equally distributed over the years of his contract. Once you trade or cut him, what’s remaining of that signing bonus that hasn’t already been applied against the salary cap in prior years, gets applied to the current year.

I think a few picks with one being top 20 would be OK. More convinced than ever he needs to go. I think the market would be substantial.
Yeah I wouldn't move him for say the 24th pick. I would want the 24th and a mid to higher 2nd, if you can't get that then see if you can hold on to him. He should be highly sought after because he is one of the top 3 wr in the game, signed for 3 more season and he is actually a bargain at 13 to 15 million a year for the team trading for him.

Not sure what I am missing on this but I am not following this logic. To me there appears to definitely be a Cap hit. Sure the Steelers save 15+ million in salary by trading him but they still take the Cap hit of 21 million.

So I don't get how people are saying it is only a 6 million dollar cap hit. It is still a 21 million dollar cap hit but they save Cash over the next 3 years by removing his salary.

But them saving the Cash from his salary is not reducing his Cap hit for next season.

Maybe I am misunderstanding something but his cap hit for next year is either 22 million if he is on team or 21 million if he is traded/cut.
