When I see stuff like this I am reminded how much I hate the NBA.Don't show this to Ski, he says they play great D in the NBA regular season.

They play some D in the NBA, but they certainly weren't putting any effort into D on that play.Yes. Because one single clip is indicative of the entire game. You’re a moron. Try watching an NBA game.
They play D in the NBA. The difference is what you confuse as good D in college is actually just a bunch of offensively inept scrubs.
The only people who routinely complain about the NBA having no D are people who never watch and/or don’t understand basketball. So that’s very on brand for you.
Forget about the non-existent D in the clip. That was practically a coast to coast travel. Please tell me you weren't serious.People from Pittsburgh LOVE to talk about how much they hate the NBA. It’s kind’ve strange.

You don’t get two steps after your last dribble. You get two steps after you’ve officially “gathered”. You can see LeBron delays actually catching his dribble for the slightest moment to gather so that he took two long steps for the dunk.
It’s not a travel. Just because they’d call it that in youth leagues at the YMCA or in a WPIAL game doesn’t make it one.
The last time the ball hit the floor was inside the midcourt logo, about 6 feet inside of midcourt. I'm sorry but James did not cover 40 feet with no dribbles without traveling.
It’s been like this for at least 25 yearsbasketball, the game itself, is a shadow of what i once was. its morphed into playing one side of the court and focuses on one side of the game.
its like every nba game is played like the nfl's pro bowl
He only took 4 steps. Get off his back.
Nah. It’s not strange. It’s because Pittsburgh doesn’t have an NBA franchise. They’d rip the NHL too for being dreadful if they didn’t have a franchise that’s been a face of the NHL for 2 generations. And when they rip the NBA for no defense based on some clips they see on the Internet, it reminds me of the things they say about soccer because they see clips of an occasional South American footballer rolling around on the ground trying to draw a penalty. It’s just ignorance because they don’t watch the game every day or every week.People from Pittsburgh LOVE to talk about how much they hate the NBA. It’s kind’ve strange.

When I first saw it, my first reaction was that it was a meaningless play at the end of a game after the game was decided. But after watching it again, would you take that charge?Don't show this to Ski, he says they play great D in the NBA regular season.
Looked like 3 to me tbh.It is completely irrelevant where the last time the ball hits the floor is... look where he actually gathers. That occurs inside the 3 point line and then he takes two long, exaggerated steps.
It’s black and white, within the rules, not a travel. I know you stubborn NBA haters can’t get it through your heads but... that’s the truth.

Coming up with a gameplan to stop AD, Bron, and Schroder is a liiiiiitle bit different than shutting down AKC, X, Toney, Champ and Horton.
The offensive skill level is just so good that it spaces the floor and just puts defenses in such a tough spot.
And sure, in an 82 game season you can find plays where guys make a business decision and take a play off.

Some of the players and teams are so talented that it is simply impossible to stop them. I have really come to appreciate how talented some of these guys are. I turn on a college game and it really accentuates the difference. There are a lot of great young players that will make the league exciting to watch for years to come.Yes. Because one single clip is indicative of the entire game. You’re a moron. Try watching an NBA game.

So you are allowed an extra step in the NBA to "gather the ball?" Every other league in the world, that's a travel because he clearly took 3 steps. But you're saying the NBA allows that extra step to gather
I wish hockey were different. The size and speed of the NHL athlete, along with the size of the rink and size of the goalie equipment have made the game unwatchable for me anymore..until overtime when it’s 3v3.Most sports are instituting/bending rules that benefit the offense to create more scoring, so why would basketball be any different?

As far as the travel, it’s why I placed a question mark in the thread title and thought it would be interesting to post. I wasn’t sure it was as cut and dry as the clip appeared. I see both sides of the argument.
Only alvarado gets that treatmentThat
I agree. It is very tough to stop these gifted offensive players. So in the regular season, players dont put forth the effort on D to try to stop them. They go through the motions. They know that even if they put max effort on D, it would only r
There is a 0% chance LeBron gets a free pass like that in a college basketball game.
To be honest, I watch sports to watch players and teams play, not officials be overbearing. What I hate about college basketball is the over officiating, the anticipatory calls, the assumptions like 9/10 crossover attempts is called a travel. The over bearing Charge/Block foul, where if it is 50/50, just don't call anything, Honestly, I don't mind an extra step now and then, just be consistent though also mindful that stars will get benefit of the doubt.
Yes. Yes you are.
New Language In NBA Rule Book Regarding Traveling Violations

aren’t they allowed to carry the ball as well?OK, so the NBA officially allows 3 steps. That's really stupid. What's next? Dribbling being optional?

So for those of you that know the NBA rules so well, this is a serious question -- say the refs blew this whistle at half court by calling a reach in foul on #15 in blue ... because of continuation, that's an "and one," right? But the video in this thread, by the book, is not a travel. I know you’ll just roll your eyes on me, but I’m telling you the truth and what NBA people have backed up on Twitter... now does it look like a travel, and was it called that way for many years? Yes. But players recently have become really, really good at taking advantage of things like this.
You just got a "t" for saying "and one."So for those of you that know the NBA rules so well, this is a serious question -- say the refs blew this whistle at half court by calling a reach in foul on #15 in blue ... because of continuation, that's an "and one," right?
