Talked to a guy in my neighborhood who was once a pretty semi top notch racquetball player. Told him about the Tress Hall racquetball courts where you actually climbed down a ladder to get to them. I saw Trees Hall listed Racquetball as one if their options and wondered whether it was the same set up. As an 19 year old I would not have thought twice about hopping over a wall to a ladder to get down to a court but I cannot imagine the safety inspectors today looking at that set up and saying the school was allowed to use that method.

Just curious if anyone knows whether the set up is still the same.

Several years ago they turned at least two of the courts into ramps and removed the ladders. Each court has doors on each wall to get to the ramps so you have to cross through each court to get out. I remember the ladder getting stuck and having to wait for someone to walk by to help get it back down. I was surprised those ladders lasted as long as they did.

I loved those courts! The ladder never phased me at the time but it seems pretty odd now when I think about it. It’s not like Trees Hall is that old. Nowadays seems like a serious injury (and a lawsuit) waiting to happen.

i swear to you i took a racquetball gym class and remember doing it and thinking nothing of it. years later i remembered how i'd climb over the rail, down the ladder and i convinced myself that i was remembering it wrong, that no way this would be allowed..

This was late 90s too.

I was down in those courts when 9/11 happened. Turned on the TV at my room in Lothrop, saw the news, and then headed up to my 10 am racquetball class while everything else unfolded.
