I have no strong opnion on this (I sit in the Club Level), wonder if Pitt will consider this too sometime down the road on a "trial" basis like Maryland.

Its stupid not to. Pitt fans are not drunks so for the most part, they're not going to overdo it to the point where it becomes a problem. If it equals a couple more bucks and livens up the place, I cant see any reason why we wouldn't.

UMD is in deep financial do-do; they need all the $$$ they can get. Not surprised by this at all.

Living in MD for too many years and following the U of MD's programs for many of them, they can thank Ms. Yow for starting that ride down the "slippery slope."

Yes, but their $$ issues aren't just athletic. Multiple tuition raises in ONE academic calendar year is unacceptable. Clearly that school from every angle has been poorly managed.

I am strongly in favor of this and have been for several years and I have a family with an 8 year old. I was driving today and they were quoting someone from Maryland on how this could actually HELP drinking related problems. They said the typical fan ( who drinks ) binge drinks right before they enter the stadium. They either do a bunch of shots or chug beers. Now with beer and wine being served, they feel it will cut down on binging and encourage a more responsible rate of consumption. I don't really have a strong opinion but they might have a point if we are all being honest here.

They say if it makes dollars, it makes sense. I personally go to a local bar or restaraunt with family for half the games to "tailgate" . If we had beverages my money would start to shift more to the game. If I pack a case of beer to tailgate for real, I likely would pack less and have more at the game instead.

It is certainly a revenue stream and it would certainly make things louder. Those are facts. Security is hired so let them do their job if things happen to go wrong. I go to games to have fun and this adds to it for many people.

You don't need to drink to have fun but a football game day in my opinion should resemble a cocktail party and less like going to a kid's birthday party.

Actually, you can go all the way to Annapolis for this one too. Lots of people you can blame, not a "cut and dry" answer.

Good post mdpitt, agree 100% if I bring a case of beer to tailgate pregame, in drinking it then going in. Probably why I haven't seen an opening kickoff in 20 years. This really is a no brainer
