Also FYI pertaining to UPMC:
In late April, Giesinger announced plans for a new hospital near UPMC Susquehanna's Muncy Valley Hospital in Lycoming County.
In late May, UPMC acquired 80-bed Whitfield hospital in Waterford, Ireland, where it had previously run a cancer clinic, so it is back in the full-scale hospital game there.
Late last month, Somerset Hospital announced it had signed a letter of intent to merge with UPMC.
Also late last month, Penn State Health announced a plan for a new hospital to be located across the street from UPMC Pinnacle West Shore in Cumberland County.
JC Blair's affiliation with UPMC Pinnacle expires at the end of September and they've signed a letter of intent to partner (or merge, it is not clear) with Post Acute Medical, which is a subsidiary of Vibra Healthcare. As far as I know, they don't run other acute care hospitals. So that is an interesting (or desperate) choice.
