OT: USN Panther

While this post is up.... @USN_Panther what VPN do you use? And does it work well on your phone?

I'm off the mainland and would like to be able to use streaming TV apps on my phone like YTTV, Pluto, Tubi, etc. I need to mask my IP and make the apps think I'm stateside. I'll eventually want to use the VPN on roku and Firestick also.

I was in the Google play store looking at ExpressVPN and saw a lot of bad reviews.

I use StrongVPN. It's pretty easy to set up and they allow multiple devices. Works with FireTv--there is an app for those devices and smart TVs.
Phones can be tricky as there are several settings that affect the location signature. I'm not expert with that one.

I use two VPNs here in Spain. Strong, which USN_Panther recommended to me, and Express VPN.

I don’t know about in other places, but Express VPN works very well for me here in Spain. Strong works better on a couple of sites, like HBO Max or Max, whatever it calls itself nowadays, while Express VPN works better on others, like HULU and Apple TV. Apple TV is available in Spain, but I have subscriptions to BritBox and Acorn through Apple TV, and they aren’t available here. But with Express VPN, no problem.

The only thing I can’t get here that I really miss is ESPN Plus. Neither VPN works to fool it.

Thanks I'll give Strong a try.

Yes, I understand how phones can be tricky because some apps require GPS to be enabled.

Update...I signed up for StrongVPN and it seems to work for most apps on my phone when GPS is not enabled or required.

Roku mobile app seems to be the only thus far that's giving me errors when I try to watch their live TV channels.

If you go to the settings in StrongVPN, you can change the protocol. I usually use open VPN, but sometimes changing it works around the block.
