For me hands down it would be Queen. (I get they are still touring but it is sans Freddy Mercury who was its soul.) I was listening to Queen Platinum Collection today doing yard work and it reminded me the breadth of their work is amazing plus they were true singers, so live not much is lost.

Digressing but can't wait for the long stalled Freddy Mercury biopic coming out in November starring Remi Malek. Trailer looks great; hope it meets expectations. What a talent.

Oh wow, this is a great topic.

Led Zeppelin is definitely tops here. Definitely for me.
Pink Floyd.
The original Lynyrd Skynyrd, even though I was never a big Southern Rock fan, the songs are nostalgic and this was one of the best bands musician wise ever.
I was never a big Beatles fan, but how could you not say them?
Jefferson Airplane
The Doors
Joy Division
Television

Edit.......oh yeah, Queen would definitely have been cool to see

#1Led Zeppelin
#2 Bob Marley and the Wailers
#3 Alice In Chains

Just a reminder - the OP was about in concert - no studio.

I get the nostalgia - but what groups were actually just as great in concert as they were in studio.

Discuss.

What I would not give to see Gus Polinski front the Kenosha Kickers and belt out Polka Polka Polka one last time...

Chris Cornell was really special would like to have seen him do his solo stuff live.

Stone temple Pilots first two albums were awesome.

Led Zeppelin is obvious.

Do Hall and Oates still perform together? Just kidding

Alice Cooper was the best show I witnessed. It was like a Broadway musical at times. Saw them every chance I got. I also liked Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, David Bowie, Metallica, and Bon Jovi.

Zeppelin, Doors, Michael Jackson..

Hall and Oates.. they do perform together..

Audioslave, of course, but would have settled for Chris Cornell solo, too.

Fortunate that I did get to attend Steely Dan (93) and Grateful Dead (95) shows before it was too late.

Doors....by the way this is a great year for concerts....lots of the older groups and performers touring this year...I have tickets to 4-5 future concerts thru Summer/Fall

I am not a concert guy but there is one band I would go see in a minute. Creedence Clearwater Revival. My all time favorite band.

One of the cooler trailers I’ve seen in awhile.

This thread in its own indirect way is reinforcing that there are some older panther lair posters on here;)
Old??? Yep.

I first heard Mountain at Woodstock on Sat 8/16/69 the summer after I graduated from HS.

Mountain 9:00 pm – 10:00 pm This performance was only their third gig as a band[42]

I had to get back home Sunday to get ready for college.

I wasn't a great judge of women at that time.
Sleezy or really sleezy didn't seem to matter so the one day at the festival earned me a trip to the doctors office for a few shots and pills. But at that time in history it was all good!

Never took to Queen's music..always sounded like Broadway stuff to me.......a bit fascinated by how really bizarre Freddie Mercury was. Saw the movie trailer the other night...might be interesting.

Holy crap I just watched that trailer. Remi Malek is a dead ringer for Mercury.

Saw Ray Davies once in a solo gig...would have loved to have seen the Kinks in their prime
Mr. Pitt-girl's favorite group (loves The Clash too). Has seen them in concert at least a half dozen times.

The Doors.
Saw some good ones, Zeppelin, the Who, Jefferson Airplane at the Mosque, Van Morrison at the Mosque, Jethro Tull, Grateful Dead,Traffic.

FWIW, Van Morrison will be at Star Lake in early September......

Without thinking about it too long - Styx and The Eagles. And I'd even throw-in The Rolling Stones, since they were never into much studio production techniques.

The one group who's main members are still alive that I would like to see is The Guess Who...

Mrs Buffett and I went to the History of the Eagles Tour concert 7/17/15 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The venue was terrible but the Eagles were great. They played from 8 pm - 11 pm and talked about the Eagles from day one up until that date.
Can't say that I've been to a better event ever except for the venue. We were in row 3 left of middle and the viewing /sound of the show wasn't good. We would have been better off with cheaper upper deck tickets.

I never realized how big a player Glenn Frey was with the Eagles but he was. He died shortly after that Jan. 2016.

If you (or any other Eagles fan) hasn't seen it, then I'd strongly recommend the documentary, "The History of The Eagles". I bought the DVD, and it's really entertaining. People can argue the points that the various band members made, but it's hard not to recognize the problems that develop when clashing egos get in the way.

Wiki does a respectable summation:
