I thought the drafting of Najee Harris and Kenny were mistakes . Now , I loved that they took Kenny , but you win football games by winning the line of scrimmage and I wished they’d addressed the lines first . It appears they’re heading for a really high pick this yr and that’s when I’d have taken a QB . It’s going to be a few yrs before Steeler football recovers ….too many holes .

Can you absolutely guarantee Bryce Young will be better than Kenny? 1st Round QBs have very high bust rates. They got the #1 2022 QB late AND can take a premier stud on the OL or DL in 2023. The massive mistake was 2021. RBs and TE's grow on trees. Honestly, if Izzy and Bartholomew were the Steelers RB and TE last year and they took other guys with those picks, what's our record the last 2 seasons? About the same

You need the big boys up front first .

Lack of investment on the OLine. When is the last meaningful high draft pick they used on a lineman? DeCastro? That was 10 years ago.

Not a single one of their starters on the line are high-pedigree guys. That needs to change starting next year, even if it’s a Top 5-10 pick.

1st and 2nd round except need for a QB should be line on both sides. Pickens,Friermuth, Harris, Claypool, Bush,...I can get an Austin Hooper, Jaylon Warren, Spillane, Jarvis Landry type in free agency for $5M each to replace those guys which is about what HBack Watt makes. Give me 3 Top OL and a DE and DT for those 5 picks. Simple example is Creed Humphrey instead of Muth in 2nd round last year.

Agree with the draft. Also a major culture problem on the team. No leadership and accountability. That all falls on Tomlin. His assistant coaches might be the worst in the league as well.

I tracked it and I think over the the last 10 years they have used a total of 6 (lower) round picks on OL.

Meanwhile they routinely use 2 and 3 round picks on WRs and RBs.

It starts at the top ...

HC values "splash plays" and has let their lines and overall physical style of play deteriorate over time.

A team can only survive poor drafting for so long before they eventually bottom-out. I don’t have the stats to quote, but I think that Dallas went thru a similar funk because they kept having more “draft misses” than hits. They finally they seemed to have resurrected themselves this season.

Also horrible assistant coach hires. That is on Tomlin. We had a strong successful balanced offense with Lev Bell and Tomlin let Ben run him out of town, so Bens buddy coach Randy could allow Ben to call or alter plays for his stat building. Havent been an AFC title contender since.

The absolute worse thing to do would be draft another QB if Kenny isn't a star right away. He's been thrown into a really bad situation.

Bad drafts. And ineffective free agents. And bad drafts
They take pride in not signing the best, expensive free agents, and lately they haven't been finding the James Farrior types in the bargain bin. and no recent Brett Keisels found in the 7th round either.

Ben ran him out of town? If anything, they should of opened up the tempo and passing game right at the opening kickoff and tried to score fast and often instead of "establish the run", instead of waiting until they where behind in the 2nd half.

Agree on Harris but which 2023 QB would you take over Pickett?

Stroud doesn't have a big arm. Young is tiny. Levis?

For many years now; the Steelers have overpaid aging starters, and neglected to invest draft capital on both lines. 7 was allowed to stay several years longer than made fiscal sense.

Drafting on O line - but to say that, you have to say what players you would remove. Maybe Najee and Claypool, but they have both had stretches where they have looked the part. Just not right now.

Bush absolutely set them back. Could have had 2 linemen.

Also, this team should still have Tuitt and Shazier in their prime, AB as an older but productive player, and Bell just now on the downside. So some bad luck was involved

All about kissing Ben's ass when he was passed his prime.

1st allowed him to chase a qualified OC out of town to allow his buddy Randy in charge so he could call more passing plays and pad his stats.

2nd drafted skill position players ro keep him happy to include Claypool, Najee, and Friemuth in 1st 2 rounds when they should have drafted OL and DL.

Can’t disagree with either. Throw in the awful Edmunds and Bush picks and retention of Kevin Butler as DC for too long.

Don’t get me wrong I really like KP , but the Steelers needs are so great at so many positions and while QB post Ben is is one of them I’d have added a QB after I’ve got the nucleus of an offensive line . Let’s not mention the D not being able to stop the run and defend anything thrown over the middle .

If I was the GM I’d accept a few yrs of bad ball to replenish the roster .

Agree w the 1st part of your 2nd sentence but remember it’s Tomlin not Butler who called the defensive signals the last decade. Coach Loquacious also has a huge say in the War Room on draft day. Pretty hard to watch the regression on and off the field. Steelers get pushed around and have become a finesse team that scares no one on game day.
