OT: Wonder Woman....

This was unexpectedly good. Most definitely the best DC movie so far, although I did like Man of Steel. Gal Gadot rocks. Grade: A-/B+

Saw "Norman" Richard Gear in New Non-Profit Tull Theater in Sewickley, Great Movie!

No longer will have to go to Squiell Hills. It a Smaller Theater but much better than Big Cinema Complexes. Also, it is the place Reviewers get to see Previews before they come out. Much better family and friends atmosphere and not crowded.

A New Movie is coming out on Churchill with undisclosed info never revealed and looks fantastic! Preview Trailer at Website. Dunkirk Too!

Have not seen the movie yet, question for any who have, did the movie have great special effects dominate it or was there a great story line with some actual good acting???

Both. The special effects are similar, but not as overwhelming, as the previous DC movies. Gal Gadot basically IS Woman Woman, in the same way that RDJ is Iron Man. Chris Pine is excellent in his role as well. The story is good because it's a self-contained origin story, without any of the other characters shoe-horned into it.

Yes, yes and yes! Not too much crazy FX stuff (except for the last act), a lot more super slo-mo Amazonian kick-a*s fight scenes. Chris Pine was his usual - great actor and very self-deprecating. Gal Gadot is a bonafide star.

Cap'n - when they screen for reviewers, is it possible to purchase tickets or is it private? I did read Norman is very good.

I'm going to see it. So it's set during WW1 - (like Marvel's Capt America's WW2 origin) will have to introduce the time travel element to bring her into the modern timeline like EVERY DC/Marvel movie or tv show does these days. 100M over weekend is no joke..

It is a very easy, seamless transition between present and past.

No they put up a sign saying Reviewer Only, I went in anyway and nobody stopped me. I have been doing a few times. It is lucky miss and hits, some Movies I want to see others I don't and it is only when I go to see another movie. They play old movies on Tuesday, The Philadelphia Story is tomorrow.

In 1980's I used to go to Fulton Building I had a friend that was Corporate Counsel to Ernie Stern who started Drive-Ins and Theaters in Pittsburgh. He own a Night club called Heaven as well his Son managed it. On the Top Floor that is where TRIB, PPG, BCT, Pittsburgh Courier and other Media Movie went to Review Early Movies. I got see Star Wars the Third Trilogy that way weeks before it came out.

Back in those days they would also Give Free Movie Passes to Judges as part of National Amusement Lobbying and i got to do that on their behalf. This would come in handy when Motions on First Amendment Issues hit the Courts locally way back when. I moved to Philly after that and never went back. I don't know if that practice still happens. Ernie Stern was a Powerful behind the scene guy in Pittsburgh. he taught me about Allen & Company that has a big say on Entertainment, Technology and Information Investment Banking Projects, Movie Making and Entertainment Mergers! They were Big in starting Google with financing, Yahoo being bought by Verizon, many other Start-ups, Buy-Outs, and Mergers and still are by the way.

Henry Hillman was Big Fan of Silicon Valley Investments and Elsie used to be sent on Shopping missions to get latest technology before it came out as well, as mention in the Eulogies at Henry Funeral Celebration. There is a reason why Shadyside looks like Mini-Silicon Valley now, is all I can say!

I think you will like going to the Tull in Sewickley it was put together by many quiet Movers and Shakers in Pittsburgh and their names are on the Wall, as well, and they may open more. Entertainment Technology is developing quickly in Pittsburgh there are Top Hollywood Screen-Writers, Producers now coming back to Pittsburgh and starting new Producing Companies teaching at CMU, Pitt, Point Park, CALU, Duquense, Chatham, and Robert Morris and WVU too. Penn State just $30 Million to build a New Communication Building from a Graduate that made his money in Hollywood.

Sewickley is great to go before and after the Tull Movies for some Walking or Exercise and then Dining and try the Ultimate Bakery a Block Away! The YMCA is the Best in Western Pennsylvania and only few that are still allow to Approve or Reject Membership. They only have a few start times like 2, 5, and 7, and 8!

Saw it last night ... might be the best superhero film yet.... though I liked man of steel and B vs S this was the best of new D.C. for sure. Gal Gadot was great and since it was filmed on location in Italy UK and Germany it definitely has an accurate WW 1 feel....just the right balance of mythology and humor and storyline and action.

Just great .... took a long time for a female lead Superhero full feature film ( with female director)... worth the wait and definitely got it right!

Gal Gadot is perfectly cast. Was never a WW fan but am now. The movie made her a credible character.
The only thing I didn't like was the very end - her tacky leaping into screen was not necessary - was already sold on her.
Ultimately been disappointed in Henry Cavel as Superman. They've written him as a whiny crybaby. Not the character I remember as a kid.

Pine's far and away the best drawn character and really carries the movie. Visuals stun at times and border on CW level cable superhero stuff. Gadot is fine, she charming and fun... Essentially DC's answer to Marvel's Hemsworth as Thor. Villains are crap. Finale strikes an single awesome emotional beat but otherwise is green screen mess sans much imagination. Overall charming enough movie with a big heart to offset many awkward moments. It was strange to me that most complex, compelling and the reason for essentially Wonder Woman's every action is a male. All three females are really flat characters, Wonder Woman almost takes shape just because Gadot is such a talented, gorgeous charmer in the role. B-/C+.

Movies to look out for the remainder of the summer...

-It Comes At Night
-The Beguiled
-Baby Driver
-Atomic Blonde
-Okja
-Spider-man: Homecoming
-War for the Planet of the Apes
-Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
-Dunkirk
-Logan Lucky

Really looking forward to Baby Driver and Atomic Blonde. Also hoping the Dark Tower is well done.

Not familiar enough with the filmmaker on Dark Tower to have much enthusiasm. Cast is aces though. My most anticipated are Okja and Valerian. Not certain either will be great but both look refreshing in a sea the usual. Baby Driver looks awesome. Can't wait for that one either. Hearing great, great things.

Same here.

why do so many adults like these super hero movies? seems like every movie these days is a remake, reboot, or super hero

Because for the most part, they are very well done movies? Except for horror movies (too scary for me), I'm all in for any movie that is reasonably good.

they just seem really cheesy and predictable

i like horror movies because you never really know how it will play out, though i haven't seen a good one in years

They are not all cheesy and predictable. But to each his own.

Actually there's been a LOT of really well reviewed horror movies the last few years. I wish I could enjoy them.

If baby driver fails to use this as part of their soundtrack it's a big fail..,,,,
