OT... Worst band you always liked?

They're playing a free show here in Austin next week for the first weekend of South by Southwest.

Incubus' lead singer had that Getty Lee voice that made me listen to their music when on the radio.

The cars, bare naked ladies, sublime and OAR.

I surmise that next OT thread may well be "Mediocre bands to whom you were indifferent." Why not?

Goo Goo Dolls had some good songs, actually, they were largely a punk band, but found out they had to eat so they decided to write more popular songs.

how bout bands that you thought you hated but turns out you liked, without knowing it?? Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.. I laughed at the thought of this band then I realized they have about 30 good songs and I know each one word for word..

Bad bands I liked...? Hmmmm Kiss because they got pretty terrible at points...I liked Metallica but same story...Van Halen...

This is not a band, but entire genre/time period. I have to admit this, and it is absolutely an embarrassingly guilty pleasure, but I love late 70's early 80's pop rock. Obviously there aren't many critically acclaimed bands that would fall within this. And it is not so much I liked the bands, but the music, the hits. Groups like...Firefall, Ambrosia, Toto, Paul Davis, even Fleetwood Mac a song like "Dreams" crap like that, I love. I really do, I love.

Why? Let's face it, one of the greatest things music can do, is not just always send a message. But allows us to be nostalgic, to go back to a time and place, remembrance. I mean during this time I was a kid, no worries, no responsibilities, remember summer vacations, slice of pizza at the pool, first starting to get interested in girls, riding your bike to Little League practice, etc.....those songs just bring me back to being 10 years old or 12 years old or whatever.

And I love it. So in my car, while I have my XM channels set to things like SIRXM U, Alt Rock, Pearl Jam, Lithium, Spectrum, etc...I also have 70's, 80's and the Bridge that play these songs/groups on a regular basis. That is absolutely my guilty pleasure. That....and NFL theme music from the same era.

KISS. I was in high school when they where popular! I thought they where ridiculous. But then I got their greatest hits CD at Walmart for $5 like 2-3 years ago, and realized, they are so bad, that there good, but a lot of that is like in a nostalgia sort of way, fun & memories. Clearly, they aren't good musicians, their lyrics are childish, stupid and shallow, just that it takes me back to a "time" and I kind of enjoy it 40 years later.

Chambers Brothers horrible but I liked them!
Be
th
st song Time has Come Today?? I actually went to one of their concerts.
Era of Vanila Fudge, Stawberry Alarm Clock & Cream equally terrible bands!

This is a tough one. Maybe the Doobie Brothers? I kinda dig many of their songs but I have no idea why? Also, the Toadies. I absolutely LOVE this song and I have no idea why?

Hopefully Sirius will do a repeat of their Yacht Rock limited time only station from last summer.

Michael Bolton. Terrible, just terrible. But after I hear one of his tunes, I find myself humming it to myself the rest of the days.

Once I had drawn my cousin's name for our family Christmas party and she wanted a Michael Bolton cassette (yes, before CD). I felt really weird taking that up to the register. I told the guy at the record store that it wasn't for me, but it was a gift. "Yeah right" was his response.

My wife mentioned these two :
Julio Iglesias
Monkeys

How come no one mentioned them?
When I first met my wife she had Monkeys albums that almost did us in right there.

When we bring up all these bands that we loved or hated don't you start to remember like if you're a guy some hot chick/ chicks that you listened to the music with and visa versa if you're a woman???
Music was always a great way to get the party started and drown out the noise so her parents didn't check on things???

Remember their tv show on sat mornings. The cheer up sleepy Jean song is very catchy.

Many of you will say this is a bad band but they are not. That band is Wham! I really believe that George Michael is the greatest singer/song writer of our time. A hundred years from now he will be recognized much like Mozart is today.

Hail to Pitt!!!

U have truly wasted away in Margaritaville

Chambers Bros were a great--not a good-band
That whole album is strong
I saw them a number of x and actually tried to hold a concert for them before the album came out...
but that's another story
unique mix of gospel, soul and acid rock
My soul was psychedelicized!!!

Think of this as an SAT test question

Which of the following doesn't belong

Cream
Chambers Bros
Vanilla Fudge
Strawberry Alarm Clock

The Clock--Incense Peppermints, one hit wonder with a silly song to boot
The other three bands were each great in their own way, with Cream being truly amazing and innovative
If u don't believe me, see "Beware of Mr. Baker"

Elton John . Funeral for a friend/love lies bleeding . Elton " played " the part early on .
After he came out not so many tunes as this Yellow brick road mind blower . He's actually one of the most revered artists of our time . Just a bit.... Different
