I'm curious with the WPIAL Basketball brackets being released yesterday about a topic we were discussing the other day about the local high school basketball scene.
How any Division One Basketball Players are in this area? Even Division II for that matter.
VerbalCommits.com does a nice job tracking both D1 and D2 offers, so I did some research. If you know of any others, please mention.
There are also a number of Division One/Two prospects playing from First Love Christian Academy and The Kiski School, the two main non-PIAA prep schools in Western Pennsylvania. Most notably from this category is David Collins, a shooting guard Pitt is tracking.
I included District 10 at the bottom. Districts 5,6,and 9 are also "Western PA" and I personally know District 5 doesn't have any college level players, District 6 has a few players from State College High, Drew Friberg and Tommy Sekunda and that's it for the whole district. And I'm not sure, but I doubt any District 9 kids are going Division One.
I also imagine there are a few freshmen and sophomores than could grow into Division One talents, and that could add to the number. And I also imagine there are a few Division II offers missing.
