Ouch, baseball lost to 0-14 Youngstown State *****

I saw them play in Kissimmee and wasn’t impressed. I sure hope the new guy has good recruiting connections.

Yeah. I think a change was due and it seems this was a strong hire. Too early to judge. But like someone said, our teams on the diamond not doing well.

I am no college baseball expert but I have watched bits and pieces of 2 games and to me, they have 2 legitimate ACC hitters, but neither would start on most ACC teams (Washington and Parry).

Baseball is pretty much in the same position as men's and women's soccer, as men's and women's basketball.....mid-major level and just completely ignored

How is it completely ignored?

The baseball coach is known as an effective recruiter. And, Jordan's last class stayed with Pitt.

If ever there is a case to give someone a honeymoon of say 2 years this is it. Heck maybe even 3 in this case.

I sense the new coach is ridding pitt of mediocrity and will get better talent here.

Jordan was the rough equivalent of Luxbacher. OK, not THAT bad but over the years it was completely apparent that he could recruit NCAAT-caliber players here. He coached 20 years and never made the NCAAT. He only came close a couple times. Nobody cared. Pitt baseball was pretty much like PSU basketball. Nobody cares, just let the coach do whatever they want.

Now, Bell inherits an A10 level team. They are losing 14-0 to VT today and probably wont win more than 4 ACC games. Just as Pitt men's soccer and Pitt basketball set records for the worst seasons recently, I expect Pitt baseball to follow that up this season.

If you were talking 5 plus years ago, yes I agree it was ignored. I dont think that is the case anymore.

I went to one of their home games against Georgia Tech last year. I don't remember the exact numbers, but Georgia Tech had seven or eight guys in the starting lineup that day hitting over .290. Pitt had three guys hitting over .230, and several guys under .200.

And to show that anything can happen on any given day, Pitt won 4-3 in, if I remember correctly, 14 innings.
