Our defense

[Wednesday Morning]

With the players that we have now, is there anything that can be done to improve this defense? I don't see the defense changing with almost the same rotation returning next year. Is it all about effort?

Not entirely effort but was a factor late in the season. IMO Pitt's defense will be better next year. A defensive system (scheme) takes time to implement in order for all 5 players to be on the same page. Coach's successful teams have been older teams who have not only "bought in" but developed an understanding of the fine points in m-m defense. When players rely less on thinking what to do and instinctively do it they automatically become better defenders. It's a work in progress. However, a true big in the post would surely help. Young had little help.
